This cedar shake cottage is located in the Historic District of Old Frontenac. You can’t help but relax as you enter this historic village that remains as cozy and quaint today as it was 150 years ago. Walk or bike through this beautiful setting and you will enjoy scenic views of Lake Pepin, historic homes and park like yards. The cottage itself features hardwood floors, custom maple trim work and a floor to ceiling field stone fireplace. It has found the perfect balance of modern convenience nestled against a historic back drop.

The historic district of Old Frontenac is located on Lake Pepin and is nestled in the bluffs of south eastern Minnesota. This area features golf, boating, antiquing, hiking and bird watching in the spring and summer and is nationally recognized as one of the best places in America to view fall colors. Winter provides both downhill and cross country skiing as well as snowshoeing and snowmobiling in Frontenac State Park, which is located adjacent to the district. There are numerous art festivals throughout the year and both fine and casual dining are only minutes away.

Golf: This area features 144 holes of golf within 20 minutes drive including the famous Jewel Golf Course designed by Hale Irwin.

This cottage was perfectly located between Red Wing and Lake city. Nice quiet neighborhood and a well stocked kitchen. Only thing I would change would be a upgrade in the beds. We really enjoyed having two bathrooms and the living room was very comfortable.

Family reunion

We had a siblings (5 boys, 2 girls) & our mom reunion here. 3 of the siblings flew in from other states for the weekend. We all thoroughly enjoyed our time together & the beautiful property. I would definitely recommend the cottage to anyone looking for a very relaxing time, beautiful scenery, great shopping, a little gambling @ Treasure Island in nearby Red Wing. The property was very clean, well stocked, comfortable. We enjoyed watching a couple of the movies provided as well. A good time was had by all. Thanks Chuck!

Old Frontenac Cottage

We group of 6 women spent two nights at the cottage and enjoyed this interesting, historic area. The weather was fantastic for early November (70 degrees) so we got to enjoy some late fall weather by shopping in Red Wing, hiking in the state park just a mile down the road and sitting on the deck late into the evening. The cottage had most things we needed but for some paper products- kleenex and paper towels. We arrived later in the evening and had some difficulty finding the place as there are no street lights in Old Frontenac and no lights around the cottage identifying it as the right place. The three bedrooms were well equipped with warm, comfortable bedding. The twin beds in one of the upstairs bedroom were old and creaky and could use an update. We would recommend the place for families of no more than 6, friends looking for a get away and groups like ours.

Dirty Girl

We stayed at the cottage for a local Dirty Girl 5K run. The only thing that disappointed us was that the washer/dryer were out of order. This was one of the main reasons for going with a rental not a hotel.
