SAINT GERMAIN DES PRES - 1 BEDROOM APARTMENT - 5 SLEEPS -

This apartment was a great deal because it had enough sleeping for our group and had the best location. It is walking distance to the Louve, Orsay, Pantheon and a short cab ride to the Eiffel Tower. It is in a cute district with shops and cafes and we felt like we lived in Paris.

Sonia and Therese were so kind and communicated often and let us check out late because no one was renting the day after us. The only negative was the condition of the apartment. The beds, towels and linens were clean but the floors and kitchen were a little dirty so we did not cook. It would benefit from a cleaning fee because this one did not have one.

It was also on about the 6th floor and there is no elevator so it was difficult to bring our luggage up and exhausting to walk up after a long day sightseeing. The toilets and water worked perfect (people were mentioning that, they must have fixed it). The wifi did not work for us.

Overall I would stay here again because for the location it was ideal and outweighed the cleanliness.

The rental agency, My Address in Paris, said that this apartment is acceptable to rent because of its location. A non functiontioning dirty apartment is a non functioning dirty apartment no matter where it is located.
The toilet seriously leaked to the point we shut off the water so it would not flood into the apartment below (and flushed only when necessary), the drawers in the wardrobe did not work, there were colonies of mold in the freezer, the towel bars were broken and on the floor in the bathroom, the holder for the shower was broken, several electrical outlets were pulled away from the wall and many did not work, the TV did not work because it could not be plugged into a working outlet, and plaster was missing from a wall. Even though My Address in Paris moved us to an extremely nice apartment, I would not rent from them again given that they keep this place in their inventory.

The apartment location is fantastic. It is close to most of the major sites as well as on a quiet street in a very cute area. In addition, the apartment felt spacious.

However, we were very disappointed with the condition of the apartment. Similar to other reviews, the place was run down and not as clean as it should have been. Please note that the pictures are not an accurate representation of the apartment -- they are very close up and in low lighting...for a reason (e.g. the wall in the bedroom is wall paper on a hard wall and not actual plush..., etc.).

While we expected the apartment to be vintage, we were frustrated that many electrical outlets didn't work, there wasn't enough lighting, the TV didn't get reception and the walls/floors were very thin. Also, the "internet access" is not wifi so we could not use our handheld devices nor was there a computer or internet hookup on the wall. Upon arrival the rental agent asked if we brought a laptop (we did not), because she had forgotten to bring the broadband modem card.

In addition, there was a sign in the bathroom indicating that you could not throw anything into the toilet due to old pipes awaiting replacement. However, we spoke with the rental agent and they clarified that toilet paper could be thrown in and everything appeared to work fine.

For anyone staying during the winter, please note that all of the heating is via space heaters vs. permament heaters (central, radiator, etc.).

Overall, the apartment has a lot of potential. However, it didn't seem to be well cared for. With a thorough cleaning and some minor upgrades, such as replacing the broken aluminum blinds and a few patches on the walls, it could be much improved. However, until improvements are made, we would not recommend staying here.
