Coming to Colorado? Coming for the Air Force Academy Graduation? Want to be close to Colorado Springs so you can do all the tourist activities, but stay in the Colorado Mountains? This home is within 1/2 hour of the Academy in Colorado Springs, and located in Woodland Park - a wonderful mountain home. Located just on the outskirts of town. It makes for a perfect family get to together Very large home - 5 bedrooms, 3 full baths, views of Pikes Peak and lots of resident wildlife... the deer have taken over the backyard! This home, although older (built in the 70s) was a custom built home, and has always been a 2nd home for the owners, and frankly even though it was built in the 70s is just like new, and has had very little use. We like to offer this home for larger family get togethers, as it is so spacious and has been designed for entertaining the whole family.
Unfortunately on the day we arrived, one of the members of the management team was still there cleaning the property due to a "misunderstanding". Check in time isn't until 4:00pm, and the home was still being cleaned until nearly 6:00pm, seriously throwing a wrench into our plans to get into the kitchen to prep dinner, hang out, etc. The basement toilet clogged after it's first use, and despite the effort of two capable men, we could not unclog it. We decided to not call management back in to fix it, as the cleaning had already restricted our time. I emailed the owners after our stay regarding the issues, and they didn't bother to even respond, not even with an acknowledgement and certainly not with an apology. We were respectful of the rules and left the property very clean, and left before the check-out time. I feel like if we would have stayed two hours late or the place very dirty, we would have immediately heard about it or at least have been charged extra. Very disappointing.
This was our 3rd time staying in this awesome house and we STILL did not get to visit all of the attractions located in the Woodland Park area. We had family come from California this time and they loved it! We hope to keep this as an annual tradition.
We had a awesome vacation. The house was great! There were 10 of us and we never got in each others way there was plenty of space. We shopped at Walmart that is just down the street and then cooked all our meals at the house. We visited the 7 falls, North Pole, pikes peak and other fun places and they are all close by. This house is great for any age group. We had family in their 50, 30,20 and then a 9, 6 and 5 yr old, and we all enjoyed the house! We definitely have bragged to all our family and friends about our awesome stay in this house.
This is the second time we stayed in this house and it was just as awesome as the first!! We had three generations this time and my mom enjoyed it the most! The house is always clean and well stocked, could use some baking sheets or pizza sheets (unless we just didnt look good enough). The new decks are great, especially the back. It was nice having enough room for everyone. My mom could not stop talking about how wonderful the house was and how beautiful Woodland Park is. We did the Pikes Peak Cog Railway this time instead of driving and it was gorgeous. The best thing we did was the Royal Gorge train....definitely will do that on the next trip. We are already planning our summer vacatin next year and plan on staying here again. We are even planning on having relatives fly in from Cailfornia! Cant wait!
I enjoyed my stay. The 70's look was cool and the house is kept up well. The place was clean and the location was just right. I was shock at how many dishes they have at the house, just about everything you need to cook. I recommend taking the back roads (67N from Denver) to get there and not HW 25/24/67 if you want a scenic route.
We had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed this property. Everything was wonderful and the size of the house was fantastic. We had 22 people present for Thanksgiving and there is plenty of room for everyone. The two decks upstairs are really nice with a great view of Pike's Peak. We saw a large mule deer several mornings right off of the back deck, looking in the patio door. We also enjoyed Pike's Peak Cog Train, Bishop's Castle, Glen Erie Castle, Red Rock Canyon, Garden of the Gods, Manitou Springs, etc, etc. There is so much to do and not enough time. We fixed most meals in the wonderful kitchen and just enjoyed each other. We would definately recommend this home and would love to come again. The property managers were great to respond when we had some difficulty with a lock and were very quick in responding to any questions we had prior to going. Excellent experience and property!
Woodland Park - the city above the clouds. Elevation 8400 ft. A 15 minute escape from Colorado Springs - a mountain experience. Colorado Springs has so many attractions, Garden of the Gods, Cave of the Winds, train ride or drive up to PIkes Peak, Air Force Academy, Seven falls etc etc. Staying in Woodland Park just adds to that experience of staying in the mountains, and visiting our National Forests. Do some hiking, 4 Wheeling or head up to Cripple Creek/Victor - our gaming town as well as one of the largest operating Gold MInes. The mountain views are incredible. All within 30 minutes of Woodland Park.
