This apartment delivered, as advertised.
For the price, this place simply can't be beat. I give it five stars for being what is advertised to be, understanding that it is not priced at the top of the market.
It is in the old city center, just blocks from the Colosseum. You can not beat the location. Is it noisy at night? Well, yes. Why? Because it is smack dab in the middle of the old city center, people. You can't stay in the center without a bit of noise. BUT - balnace the noise against being able to walk to just about anyplace you want to be, and I think you'll find it's a great place to stay. Also, the windows have big, old wooden shutters both inside and out, so it's just not that bad.
The apartment itself was everything we needed. Everything worked. It's large enough for 5 people, at least, and I could imagine it would fit more if you all really like each other.
The kitchen is good. We made several meals during our stay, and were pleased that we didn't really need anything that the kitchen didn't have. It's not a gourmet kitchen, but you're on vacation. You're going to go out to experience the food in Rome anyway, right?
There is a large grocery store less than 5 blocks away. Ask for directions. There is a tiny little store less than a block from the apartment for everyday things if you're in a hurry.
There are also lots of restaurants and gelaterias close by in in every direction - some better than others. The closer you get to the Colosseum (which you will probably actually get tired of passing during your stay), the more expensive the food is. If you go in the other direction, the food gets better and less expensive.
There is an airconditioner, which is a plus, and the bath is large and nice. There is also a bidet, which my two year old loved to wash her hands in.
There is internet and it works, but we used a signal booster because the signal was a bit weak. Still, it you don't have a booster, it works if you stay close to the router - which is apparently hiding in a wall between the kitchen abd bedroom?
The hosts were warm and wonderful. I did not meet Marco, but I did meet his mother and grandmother, both of whom charmed us all.
We stayed for about 10 days, and if I had it all to do over again, I would not hesitate. If you are used to 5 star hotels and like to be waited on, this is not the place for you. If you want to experience Rome as the Romans do - and better than some - this is your apartment.
Oh - it is one floor up - and there is an elevator!
