I loved your home. It was instantly inviting, comfortable and very well equiped. I often rent homes when vacationing with my family in the U.S. and Europe and your home definitly offered more than expected which was a nice surprise. I could tell the house was loved and enjoyed as it has such a great feel to it. I would recomend it to anyone who wants an easy carefree weekend away.
Lovely in every way!
Thank you for sharing your home!

Spring Break in Woodstock

S.V.B. Los Angeles
Review Submitted: April 15, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
We just returned from a 1 week stay in Ashewood. This beautiful home is nestled in the woods and was the perfect place for big dinners with friends and family, cozy evenings by the fire playing games, reading or taking care of business without the stress of the big city. The house had everything we needed.
We walked into town every morning for coffee and the best muffins at Bread Alone.
The house is a short drive to FDR's birthplace, and the Vanderbuilt mansion on the Hudson. It's fascinating history set beautifully along the water. There were endless antique shops to visit in Woodstock and nearby towns. For a great meal try the Beekman Arms Inn, which happens to be the oldest Inn in America.
Can't wait to go back.

Amazing Woodstock Chalet

Gabi Covblic Los Angeles, CA
Review Submitted: April 14, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
Last week was my second time visiting the Ashewood House and I am very, very satisfied. I remember the first time coming into the house and seeing all the light and the warm, peaceful vibe (it was dark and cold outside - late fall). I fell in love with the place instantly, especially the sun room with those beautiful flowers, the amazing view and the comfortable couch.
Same thing I can say about the living room, this big, open space makes one feel free and open. One can enjoy some hot tea or chocolate near the fireplace when it's cold outside. The place is perfect for entertaining big companies with some movies, or some good music.
Most of all, I enjoyed the atmosphere that you can feel throughout the whole house - it is this calm and peaceful feeling, inspiring sometimes. The house and its vibe is very helpful for artists - me being a painter, I can tell it for sure.
Not only the house is magic, but also the surroundings. The forrest is charming, especially the little squirrels and the deers that you can see all around. It seriously feels like a fairy tale.
As for myself, I love to walk and to go on hikes, and this place is absolutely perfect for that. It takes about 40 minutes to walk to the center of the town. We use to do it in the morning, to go for coffee to the local coffee shop, it's called Bread Alone.
I am a student in the United States now, I come from the Eastern Europe. It is soon a year since I left home and this house reminded me of it. Living in California now, we don't have a a chance to experience all the beauty of the 4 seasons, and I am glad I had some days of real Spring last week.
If you get to spend some time in the Ashewood House, you will not regret it, I assure you.

Wish we could have stayed longer!

Jennifer T. Brooklyn, NY
Review Submitted: April 6, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
My friends and I recently stayed at this beautiful home and absolutely loved it! The house is cozy, clean, well-stocked, well-decorated, and perfectly suited for a relaxing weekend.

The huge living room and kitchen/dining area were ideal for laughing and catching up with one another over wine and dinner, but the home's design also lends itself to just the right amount of privacy from other houseguests when needed. The deck and amazing sunroom provided gorgeous views (especially at sunset!!) and the sound of the running brook nearby was like music to our "city" ears.

I suggest taking a drive (or walk) through the area to see the waterfalls and amazing views of clear lakes and running streams. We also enjoyed a day at the nearby Emerson Spa and a fantastic breakfast at Sweet Sue's.

All of our interactions with the owners were 100% positive (very nice people!) and professional, and the super-helpful property manager greeted us at the house, showed us around the home, and even took the time to guide us back into town to find restaurants for lunch.

My only disappointment was having to leave and return to the real world! I would whole-heartedly recommend this house for anyone looking for a break from the city and a relaxing time in Woodstock!
