A short walk or bike to the beach, we offer privacy and seclusion, facing South toward the breezes and the sound of the surf. Although true to Colonial architectural detail on the outside, the downstairs has an open plan, centering on a wall of glass that opens out onto a porch and steps down onto a brick terrace. The two bedrooms upstairs each have a skylight through which to hear the waves and watch the stars.

Notes: The owners of Dalliance are living and working on the 2 acre property and are available at any reasonable hour to assist your needs. They also have built a beautiful barn at the back of the property that you can see from the back porch of the cottage. The horses will greet you with a whinny when you come and go... They love carrots. We have created a little bit of heaven here in Surfside and would love to share it with you. Come and see!

Nantucket, a preserved historic town: Nantucket was once the center for whaling in all the world. Hence the fortunes the Ship Captain's amassed allowed them to build a beautiful town centered around the harbor and wharves. That town and its buildings remain intact today as they were then thanks to The Historic District Commission. What a beautiful and thriving village... a walk back in time along cobblestone streets.

Surfside: Surfside gets its name from the waves and wide beaches along the South shore, perfect for fishing, swimming and sunning. Our house is but a short walk or bike from the beach. There is a pavilion there with showers and restrooms if you desire, or a stroll down the beach will take you either to a more remote area or even (1/2 mi. down the beach and around toward the west) a nude beach!

Biking: Nantucket has created a wonderful bike path system that one may ride in safety. The Surfside bikepath is only 100 yards from the house and takes one either to the beach, to town, or connects to the Siasconset and Polpis bike paths for trips around the island. Great for strollers, bikes, horses, walking, dogs... anything that is unmotorized. Wide and well maintained.

Nantucket's best kept secret

Nantucket is a very special place and this is a wonderful, clean home. We could not have been happier with our choice of lodging on the Grey Lady.

Location, location, location...so close to the beach (12 min. walk to Surfside - via a flat, paved bike path). We walked into town via the bike path & it took less than 1/2 hour - really easy (there's even a water fountain on the bike path) and the exercise wasn't bad for us either.

Two large & lovely bedrooms, each with window & skylight that are great for the summer breezes. The downstairs was is comfy and spacious. Loved the fireplace, the wall of french doors and oh yea, if you so desire, central air & heat.

The kitchen is large, open and has plenty of counter space. We enjoyed breakfast on the patio and afternoon tea on the back porch.

There is a wonderful collection of artwork throughout this house, which only added to the warm feel of the home.

In short, we loved the house, loved the location & look forward to returning.

A Slice of Heaven!

Staying at this cottage is a slice of heaven to me.

It is situated on a lovely piece of property that feels completely private. You can hear the ocean and it is a mecca for birds and bunnies. I also love the occasional whinny from the lovely horse at the barn nearby.

The house is exceptionally beautiful. Its design is pure Nantucket but with the modern amenities. The craftsmanship is outstanding, everything is so tastefully done and well made. The kitchen is perfectly equipped. It is very clean and filled with light. The house is filled with art by Nantucket artists and has beautiful books that you can read on a rainy day.

I first rented this cottage last summer and could not have imagined a better place for a sabbatical. It is a eight-minute walk to the beach and oasis of calm in the busy summer months. I have rented it again this summer and long to have a place like this in my future. I recommend this cottage highly.
