The cottage was originally built as a 1 bedroom cape with a picture window facing the ocean.
A two bedroom addition with a bay window overlooking the ocean view was added later, forming two separate & secluded suites. Each has a private entrance, separate yard and BBQ areas with picnic tables and charcoal grills.
The Sea Breeze Suite has one bedroom, 600 sq. feet, and sleeps 3. There is a queen bed plus a pull out sleep sofa, equipped galley kitchen, full bath, living room/ dining room combination, fireplace and outside shower. Your favorite spot may be the raised patio with ocean views of sailboats - the perfect spot for unwinding.
The Beach Dune Suite has two bedrooms, 1100 sq. feet and sleeps 4 to 5. The suite has one extra large bedroom with a set of twins and a set of bunks, and one small bedroom with single twin bed. You'll have everything you need with a fully equipped galley kitchen, full bath plus additional half bath, living room/ dining room combination and pull out queen sleep sofa. The living room has a bay window with ocean view.
We typically book the whole house to one party, but occasionally there are 'light/off' season weeks available for each of the suites.
The cottage is situated on a 1/4 acre, just steps from the warm water of Nantucket Sound. We are second house back from the beach on a private cul-de-sac. Our guests have access to the beach across the private road and up through our deeded right of way path. It’s approximately a 30yd/30m walk to the Pleasant Road Beach. The beach has clean, soft, white sand with gentle waves. It's the 'warm' side of the Cape without the dramatic low tides of the Bay side.
Pleasant Road Beach is a family-oriented beach with approximately 100 plus yards of natural shoreline. In addition to sunbathing, swimming, shell collecting and “boogie-boarding” in the waves, you can also stroll the water’s edge for approximately a mile in either direction. One can even walk past the breakwater to swim across the Herring River into Dennisport and back. The breeze is great for kite-flying and listening to the surf in the evening.
Steps Away is close to everything you'll need, but out of the mainstream resort traffic. Except for the grocery store, you never have to leave. If you desire more activity, we are minutes to restaurants, bike trails, golf and tennis. There are nearby activities for children such as the trampolines, race cars, baseball cage and bumper boats.
Take a ferry and explore Martha’s Vineyard or Nantucket. Ride the bike trail from Dennis to Wellfleet’s Cape Cod National Sea Shore. Or take a road trip to Provincetown to savor the many shops, restaurants and eclectic atmosphere. Don’t forget to stop at the fascinating shops and open air concerts in Chatham’s historic center.
There are many casual and fine dining restaurants nearby. You can chose from pizza, clam shacks and Mexican fare on the casual side or outstanding dining in nearby Italian, sea grilles, or classic New England restaurants.
What to bring:
All linens; sheets, bath towels, beach towels, beach chairs, umbrella or beach blanket. The kitchen is fully equipped, but it’s not gourmet. There are 2 cable TVs, wireless internet access and a DVD player. Being so close to sea level, there is no dish or clothes washer. However, there is a nearby laundromat. The sea breezes keep the cottage cool at night; fans are available for the rare hot evening.
To secure your reservation please sign and return the Rental agreement along with a check for one half of the rental fee plus the security deposit. Agreements not returned in 7 days shall be subject to cancellation.
Final payment of full balance due 30 days prior to arrival.
West Harwich, Massachusetts is just West of the cape “elbow” and just East of all the upper Cape commotion at exit 9 off Route 6. The drive from Boston is approximately 1-1/2 hours. West Harwich enjoys a mid-Cape Cod location, offering visitors easy access to the warm-water beaches of the Nantucket Sound. West Harwich, a quaint Cape town in its own right, is also an ideal staging area for exploring the classic New England seashore that Cape Cod exemplifies.
The town is known for its many cranberry salt bogs, which produce cranberries that are commercially farmed. Harwich also contains the largest lake on the Cape, called Long Pond, which serves as a private airport for planes with the ability to land on water. In the summer, the town is host to the Harwich Mariners of the Cape Cod Baseball League. The team plays at Whitehouse Field.
