Penthouse 4BR/4BA, Two Story, 6 Balconies. Great Views

We were disappointed in our experience at the Palms - it is unlikely that we will return. If you are planning a visit, check the reviews on other popular sites on the internet, they provide good insight into the overall visitor experience on the Palms property. This particular unit has a spectacular view. The owner has done substantial remodeling and it generally shows well. We encountered several issues during our stay that, in my view need to be addressed: Smoke Detector Battery Replacement - on our last night - we were awoken at 1 a.m. by a smoke detector chirping to signal a low battery. We did not have a replacement battery and did not want to disconnect the device, so we left early. Hot Tub – I used the hot tub first thing in the morning before anyone had showered. The hot water tank did not supply enough hot water to fill the tub over the jets. Once I added enough cold water to operate the unit, the temperature was lukewarm. Also, there is a water return valve on the bottom side of the tub that has very aggressive suction power. It drew my fingers in and they were bruised. The front door requires an adjustment to eliminate the extra shove required to get it closed properly. Washer/Dryer - the Washer/Dryer was relocated from its intended location in a space off a shared bathroom to the closet in the front bedroom. We found two issues with this arrangement. User access is restricted during early morning and later evening hours while folks are sleeping in that bedroom. In addition, the presence of the dryer in this space led to significant humidity in the bedroom while the dryer was running. There are two fireplaces - one in the living room and another in the master bedroom. They are not operational - too bad - it is a nice feature of this unit that would be useful in the cooler months. Dining area overhead light. As a family, we play a lot of board and card games on vacation. The dining table is the natural place for this activity. Lack of overhead lighting in this space leaves it dim and detracted from our enjoyment during meals and other activities. Master Toilet Room - there are brown stains on the walls in this room. In my view, it would be worthwhile to prime and paint this room. Master Bed Sheets – we found stains and discoloring on the corners of the fitted sheet – in my view, it would worthwhile to replace with a new set. Staircase carpet - this carpet is worn and dirty. In my view, it would be worthwhile to replace.
