Large and Lovely, but Needs Care

We rented this property on short notice because we were unable to secure a timeshare. While the property is in a wonderful neighborhood and a spectacular 15 minute drive from Malibu, it is also about a 45 minute drive from LAX (in good traffic). Additionally, before we rented the property, we worked with the manager, Pascal, on the rental contract. The tax amount was incorrect and the cleaning fee was taxed. It was only due to my own diligence in looking up the tax rate that prevented us being overcharged for this. While Pascal was willing to change the rate, I found it strange that the wrong rate was on the contract in the first place. I would guess they have overcharged others in the past and pocketed the money, which doesn't seem right to me. Also, the house was clean and spacious,but needs usome pdating. The shower enclosure in the master bathroom was simply cheap and poorly constructed. The shower door fell off while we were there. Additionally, there were restrictions on who could even come onto the property, meaning that we had to get permission to even allow family members to visit us while there. While the house itself was a nice home, I would probably not rent here again due to the lack of upkeep to the property and the overcharging. Finally, just remember that the property is north of LA and not on the beach. One person said it is between Malibur and 101,but it is not. It is on the far side of 101, but less than a 10 minute drive from the 101 onramp.
Owner's Response: Vacationers must be truthful about their intentions and number of people in their group. My property is not a party house and all guessed must be cleared on the agreement.
All rental rates along with the terms and conditions are stated in the rental agreement for your approval. You are well aware of the charges when you accept the agreement. If you do not agree with the charges, you do not have to move forward with your reservations. There are no hidden fees or overcharges.
Although we pride ourselves in providing you with all the necessary comforts to enjoy your stay, unexpected things do happen, like a shower door, which was repaired. Please be advised that issues can be immediately addressed if brought to our attention.
