This upscale, yet cozy, Carillon Beach cottage is a sanctuary where you can gaze out on enthralling views of the beach. Its flowers and lush landscaping are reminiscent of Bermuda. Just out your door you'll lounge on a sugar white sand beach as the mesmerizing emerald waters of the Gulf of Mexico relax and rejuvenate you. Enjoy the wonder of young dolphins dancing in the waves as they lap on the beach as you do a little morning shelling on the beach. Maybe you know someone who wants to watch fish jump in quaint Lake Carillon or ring the bell while strolling along in front of the picturesque Carillon Meeting House.
In the early afternoon catch beach breezes at one of the three nearby pools. If you're energetic, tennis courts are easily reached by a leisurely bike ride through Carillon Beach's welcoming streets. A shady Promenade winds through much of the beautiful town and leads to a fabulous pool and children's park loaded with activities.
Enjoy a mid-afternoon stroll through the sparkling shops of Downtown Carillon. Savor a cocktail al fresco as you take in the New Orleans inspired architecture in downtown Carillon Beach.
In the early evening meander across the turn-of-the-century style beach walkover immediately adjacent Slice O' Life and admire the natural splendor of a breathtaking sunset. Later on, enjoy upstairs dining at one of the downtown restaurants. Gaze across the lake as you dine and enjoy the views of this special community. After dinner sit back and enjoy some of the area's best jazz or just let yourself be captivated by the romantic twinkling lights in the Live Oaks surrounding the Meeting House and Green in downtown Carillon Beach.
Be sure to get in the rhythm and enjoy the island sounds of our local music legends for the summertime tradition of 'Groovin-on-the-Green,' held on the village green by Lake Carillon.
Tee it up on one or more of the many golf courses that are just a few short minutes from this idyllic retreat. Several are rated as some of the best in Florida!
Spend an afternoon at Florida's newest and best shopping experience, pedestrian friendly PIER PARK. Have an island drink or an ice cold brew after you stroll through Pier Park and find yourself at Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville looking out on the beautiful Gulf of Mexico.
Return to your cottage and savor the sounds of the gulf from your covered beachside porch. Relax in our gated community with your family and friends. Enjoy walking, riding bikes, and jogging without the complexities of crossing a busy road unlike our neighbors to the west - Seaside, Rosemary Beach, Watercolor, Seacrest and Seagrove - must do along 30A. Leave your worries behind and just chill! Bicycle rentals are available at the shops in downtown Carillon or bring your own from home.
Tired of cooking or eager to have a romantic dinner but don't want to come off the beach? Catered meals may be arranged for just two or for a large party. Want a mid-week cleanup or groceries brought in by private concierge? Private chef/dining, personal shopping, chauffeur, private tours, event tickets and other services available upon request - additional charges may apply.

Welcome to the Slice O' Life! Our beachside cottage was built for the enjoyment of family and friends. Building homes is one of my passions and meeting people is another. I get to do both through our little slice of sand on Carillon Beach. I grew up in Jacksonville, lived for several years in Shreveport, LA and then lived in the Vinings area of Atlanta, GA while my husband and I raised our two great kids. Our daughter is a top Realtor in Atlanta while our son is an attorney in Atlanta. We Have 2 fabulous rescue Weimaraners, Annie & Maggie that love the yard at our cottage. Check out their portrait on our walls when you visit! I now sell real estate in our beautiful area and get to see the clear blue waters each and every day. We look forward to you booking your stay with us. I will be happy to show you around while you are here. See you soon. Barbara Prather
The Owner purchased this house in 2004
The tranquility of Carillon Beach was appealing to us. We wanted a place where we could get away from the madness of our work worlds!
Slice O' Life has over sized porches allowing for plenty of space to enjoy being outside sipping that cup of coffee or your favorite afternoon beverage!
Slice O Life was all we hoped for. Right on the beach. Beautiful views. A lot less crowded than 30-A properties, but close enough to enjoy if you want. Almost private beach most of the week. The owners were very kind, even greeted us when we arrived. The property itself as well as the whole community is very well kept and clean. The pools and tennis courts and common ground were beautiful. All was as pictured on the sight. The house was well appointed with everything you might need both in the kitchen and in the bathrooms. I wouldn't suggest no more than four people in the house. It is small, but perfect for a family of four. You are not crowded with high rises on the beach. Grocery stores were right across the street. Not many restaurants right on property, but short drive to 30-A for great restaurants including Goatfeathers and Stinky's. I am definitely recommending this property to others.
Spent time with my family and most recently my young grandson. This place is fantastic! Description online is spot on; pictures don't do this property justice. Thanks for sharing this fabulous beach side house with fellow travelers. Can't wait for my next stay at Slice O' Life Cottage!
Slice o Life provided the most relaxing Thanksgiving I've spent with my grown children and grandson. It is tradition for us to gather at the beach for Thanksgiving and we've stayed in various homes along 30A, but never have we been fortunate enough to have a home with such a resplendent view! The decor of the home is upscale yet comfortable. Every detail, from the bathroom ceiling fans to the courtyard shower and eclectic paintings, expresses the owner's propensity for perfection. The only time I left the house was to walk along the beach with my daughter. The kitchen was equipped for our family gathering and the bedrooms, with the murphy style bed, easily accommodated the 5 of us. We had the loveliest of times and only wish it didn't have to end. I definitely recommend this beach home.
I went to the Slice O' Life with some old college friends for a fishing trip and to celebrate my best friend's impending wedding. I was amazed at how well the space was utilized in the cottage! Everything (kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms etc.) was so thoughtfully laid out for convenience and style. I love cooking and the kitchen has everything you need to make an awesome dinner. When we brought back our catch (Amberjack), I was able to cook the fillets three different ways. The downstairs bedrooms also slept 6 comfortably, and they are remarkably private for all being downstairs.
But my favorite part of this cottage was the second floor porch overlooking the gulf. Day or night, you can enjoy the view and sounds of the ocean while sipping on your adult beverage of choice. There is nothing but dune and beach in front of this cottage all the way to the water, so it's really a fantastic (and private) view.
When you are ready to head down to the beach, the walkway is right next to the driveway, so it's incredibly convenient.
I love this place, and I will be going back again. I highly recommend it for any trip.
We are a family of 5. 2 adults and 3 grown children ages 19,20 and 21. We were misled that this home had 3 bedrooms. The 3rd bedroom is an enclosed porch that is only accessible through the master bedroom which leads to no privacy for the adults. Further more has inadequate air conditioning since it is all glass and nothing to block the sunlight.
The second bedroom ladder is obstructed to get to the top bunk.
We paid our cleaning fee and were told we left it a mess and had to pay additional cleaning fees. This is totally false since my wife and I took out the trash, washed towels and left the rest for the cleaning crew. Isn't that what the cleaning fee is for? Unfortunately my son fell on the stairs against a picture glass frame and cut himself badly on the wrist. I am sure the insurance can cover a piece of glass. But we were scolded for not cleaning the house and damaging the picture.
In closure all I can say is I am very disappointed in the way we were treated and BEWARE of the misrepresentation. This is a 2 bedroom home with a porch. The photos are misleading on VRBO.
Drove the family from Dallas for our summer vacation 2013. For starters, the pictures do not do this house, location, or view the slightest amount of justice. All descriptions were spot on and very accurate. My 2 kids, ages 9 and 5 loved their room and the bunk beds. They were elated to have their very own TV in the room as well. Ceiling fans in every room and bathroom! House stays very cool and comfortable for sure. Outdoor shower is a blessing after coming in from beach. There is also a hose to get you rinsed off along the walkway to the shower. My only suggestion would be to cut back some of the tree limbs and shrubs to make the walkway a tad more open. Kitchen is fully stocked with all accessories to make it plenty easy to cook great meals. The inferred grill works to perfection as well (I was skeptical). Be sure to clean the grates. The nights we cooked, we had grilled salmon, grilled fillets, grilled chicken, we also made a garlic lemon shrimp with pasta, so you can see the variety that can come from the kitchen. Ice maker is a god send as well for drinks and cocktails. The house is perfectly situated. The view of the ocean is second to none. You are literally steps from the walk-over to get to the beach. We rented 2 additional chairs and the beach service has them set up with umbrella by 7:30/8 a.m. everyday till at least 5:30/6 at night. The pools are also close, but we rented a golf cart, as it is decent walk if you are lugging a cooler or 2 with you (but 2 of the 3 pools are literally an easy walk). Remember, there is no parking at the pool areas for cars/SUV's. The golf cart was also great entertainment and perfect transportation to tour the community and get to the square. Publix, Winn-Dixie, and CVS are 2 minutes away and have all your needs. 15 minutes down 98 is a seafood market at the corner of 98 and 79 called Buddy's. Great find for your fish, dips, and key lime pie. They will steam your shrimp as well. Restaurants we ate at were all really good, no complaints at all. We tried the 2 places in our little square, Castaways and Sunrise Cafe. Other suggestions: Salty Sue's, Mike's Oyster Bar, The Sandbar. Must visit the Rosemary Beach area (Doughnut Food truck along way is greatness). Drive past Rosemary and drive another 20 minutes to Seaside Beach - Sweet area!!! Try the Shrimp Shack (Lobster roll and Steamed Royal Reds) 5 great food trucks as well. Enjoy
Slice O' Life is located only minutes from the new Pier Park where you can enjoy superior shopping and dining including Jimmy Buffet'ts Margaritaville. Surrounding area has many championship golf courses, deep sea fishing as well as water parks for the kids. Destin is only minutes away to the west with its outlet shopping, fine dining, world class boating and golfing.
