Thank you for letting my mom and I sleep here! We had nice quiet night which helped us enjoy all the fun during our days together!
We would highly recommend staying here. It has two large master suites which worked great for our party. Nice kitchen, open living space and loved the porch. We were able to enjoy the weather and it overlooked their beautiful garden. Thank you for sharing your place. We will be back!
The carriage house was just what our party of two couples needed for a weekend wedding retreat. Upon arrival we found that the owners left a welcoming note and bottle of wine with snacks. In addition to the house being immaculately clean, the amount of kitchen gadgets even allowed our friend to bake a pie. Inside the nicely appointed bedrooms the bathroom Kohler fixtures showed off local pride. (I highly recommend visiting the Kohler design center.)
When I book rentals I am always curious about the layout--you enter the house from the back side garage bays where there is a set of stairs leading to the second floor. In front of you is a dining table for 6, then to your right is a large open kitchen with island, and then the living room space with sofa, arm chairs, TV, and desk area. The apartment features vaulted ceilings. The numerous windows in the kitchen/dining look out over the lake for peek-a-boo views and the windows in the bedrooms and living room look into the trees. The on suite bedrooms are to the left and right of the shared living space and feature window seats and plenty of privacy. There is also a small utility room with cleaning supplies and laundry off the dining area. All the furnishings are basic, comfortable, and in fine condition.
Although we were there for a wedding (it was the first time any of us had traveled to beautiful Wisconsin) it was also a race weekend. The sound of race cars started and ended at reasonable times during the day so it had minimal impact on the evening relaxation. One of my highlights was going out kayaking on our first evening and understanding why it is called Crystal Lake.
Overall this rental proved to be a great choice for our party. I was pleased with the layout, the owners communication and hospitality, and the location.
This house is in really excellent condition and the kitchen is very well equipped. Although you can hear the car races in the distance, it is a pretty quiet place with a partial lake view. It is quite close to the restaurants etc in Elkhart Lake.
I love this place and the owners were wonderful! I stayed here for a few months and really enjoyed the sun filled rooms, the view of the lake and the deer that visited each day- a very relaxing and tranquil experience that I highly recommend!
My wife and I had a splendid 4-night stay at the carriage house, with overnight visits from some other family members who live nearby. We were delighted with how clean, comfortable, quiet, and well-furnished the place was. Though we ate a few meals out at nearby restaurants (in Elkhart Lake), we also wanted to do quite a bit of cooking ourselves. We were very pleased with how well stocked the kitchen was, with a good set of sharp knives, every utensil we could possibly want, a barbecue grill, two coffeemakers (our guests could drink caffeine, while we enjoyed our decaf), and so on. (The owners seemed receptive to our suggestion that a scratched-up Teflon frying pan be replaced, one that we avoided using.) The beds were firm and very comfortable, and each bedroom had its own TV (in addition to the TV and DVD player in the living room). It was a very short walk to the lake, where we enjoyed the clean, warm water, as well as the paddle boat, kayaks (one single, one double), and the various inflatable chairs and mattresses that were available for our use. This review would not be complete without mentioning the owners. Beyond seeing to it that the carriage house is immaculate and well furnished, they also take good care of those who stay there. They were quick to respond to inquiries (both prior to and during our visit) and made it clear that we should not hesitate to call with questions. On the first night of our stay, I couldn’t figure out how to tune in the channels on the TV. I phoned the owners, and they were happy to guide me through the process. The next day, they sent an email just to make sure that we had had no further problems, inviting us to call again if we had any more concerns. We were completely satisfied with every aspect of this getaway, and we thank the owners for their care and attention.
the bottom of this house is all garage...three of them. Had asked owners if they lived on the bottom floor and be there while we visited and they said yes. Also asked about its location on the lake and was told was on the lake and in front was access to lake edge and kayaks. We overlooked a huge telephone pole then a road, then parking for the back of others homes [cars and garbage cans] who were really on the lake and had small blue water show thru the huge trees towards the lake. Family was to come and enjoy with us but did not stay because of the bad location. We had burning lungs and eyes because of all the new furniture and paint fumes. The place was decorated beautifully and stocked well for the visit all spent indoors because of the heat and no close access to the lake. This house does not overlook Crystal Lake and should have its listing changed. I would never recommend this place to others due to it being misrepresented. Also the Rv info was not good in the listing. We had family try to hook up where we were told by the owner and the plug was not able to serve the power that was needed.
