Schoodic Point Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4-5)

Seaside chalet style cabin on the Schoodic Peninsula located within 70 feet of the ocean. Hear the waves lap along the granite shore, feel the ocean breeze, see the Sally Islands off in the distance. At night you can see the flashing light of Petit Manan Lighthouse, Maine's second tallest light, built before the Civil War on a rock ledge two miles out to to sea.

The ocean view faces east across the water so the sunrises and moon rises are spectacular. See shore birds, marine life, and hear the loons call. Lobster boats work the area so you can watch them work from the front deck or along the shore.

The property is nicely wooded and you will have a private setting. Neighboring homes are shielded from view by a beautiful arbor of spruce, balsam, pine, etc. The shoreline is a combination of granite boulders and ledge rock. The water is deep, keeping a beautiful water view which is not affected by the twice daily Maine tide.

The cabin is a classic example of Maine craftsmanship. The interior is pine tongue and groove on the walls and the ceilings on both levels. The first floor living area has a wide pine plank floor. The second level structure has exposed wood beams and floor planking.

Level One includes a dining area and living area with a granite wood-burning fireplace. There is a comfortable Ethan Allen full size sleep sofa. Also on this level is a full bath and a generous sized Kitchen with updated newer appliances, and all the dishes and utensils you need. Level Two has a front master bedroom with full bed and a balcony that looks out over the ocean and out to the distant flashing lighthouse. The back bedroom has a pine bunk bed with a full mattress on bottom and a single on top. There is also another single bed in this room. Both these rooms have vaulted pine plank ceilings and pine plank walls.

Walk or bike a couple miles to Corea-by-the-Sea, one of Maine's most picturesque working harbors. There you will find the Lobster Co-op where you can buy fresh lobsters directly from the fishermen.

Down the road are the pretty communities of Prospect Harbor and Winter Harbor with many services, restaurants, and shopping. Winter Harbor is the gateway to the Beautiful Acadia National Park - Schoodic Peninsula Section, where you can enjoy strolling the spectacular craggy coast, hike Schoodic's hills, or bike beautiful trails. You can also take the mail boat from Winter Harbor to Bar Harbor, or take the easy drive from Schoodic Peninsula to Mount Desert Island.

The quintessential Schoodic Area is one peninsula 'Downeast' from the more crowded Bar Harbor area and Mount Desert Island.

Great cottage, cozy with everything we needed. Quiet and private, even though there are neighbors on both sides. Great views and deck. Appreciate the pet friendliness. Highly recommended!

A MUCH NEEDED VAKAY...

  • 5 of 5
I can only say good things about our amazing week at the chalet. It is everything the owner said it is. Quaint, clean, well-stocked and so much more. We never spent sooo much time just sitting outside and gazing at the water. Even our dog seemed more relaxed. Acadia Park is also a must see. If you're a photography buff, this is the place to take a million pix. We had a few nites of a full moon. We were so concerned about the cottage not having A/C....again, the owner was right! No humidity= you don't even need a fan.
THE ONLY THING I MISSED WAS SEEING A MOOSE AND I LOOKED EVERYWHERE!!!!

Comfortable Cabin in a Beautiful Setting

  • 4 of 5
This cabin was very comfortable for our family of four (2A2C and our dog.) The setting was beautiful and the cabin came well stocked. We really enjoyed the peace and quiet of the area. Our kids enjoyed exploring the rocks and the many tidal pool creatures living there like hermit crabs and eels. Our son even caught two fish. We appreciated that the owners provided a lobster steamer pot with propane starter as it made our nightly lobster feasts easy to prepare and enjoy. We also loved the fire pit as roasted marshmallows and smores are the icing on the cake for any summer vacation. If you are looking for a clean, comfortable cabin that is "off the beaten path" and surrounded by the best of Maine's beauty, this is a terrific play to stay.

My favorite VRBO rental ever

  • 5 of 5
My family loved this cottage from the moment we stepped in it. It is so warm and inviting with all the wood walls and nice quality furniture. I was also impressed with the quality of the beds and linens- they are what you would have on your bed at home. We delighted in keeping watch on the tides, and the tide clock in the living room was one of our favorite parts. As well, even thought the house is VERY quiet and relaxing, there is so much to do in the immediate area. My husband's favorite part was the Wharf Gallery in Corea, where we got lunch and bought some live lobsters for our dinner. The house is stocked with everything you could possibly need to make an amazing lobster dinner. As well, one of our favorite things to do was make a campfire out back. We roasted hot dogs and marshmallows, and I think that in and of itself was the highlight of my summer. This was the best house we have ever rented on VRBO!

Quiet, relaxing property

  • 5 of 5
We stayed at the property in July and found it to be all the description said it would be. It was quiet and relaxing. Hearing the waves from the ocean was very relaxing. The kitchen was stocked with anything you needed. The home was clean and well maintained. The owners were great to work with. The recommendations Bob made for local restaurants were right on point as well as some of the points fo interest to see. If you are looking for a quiet place to relax , this is definitely a good choice. I would definitely recommend this property to rent. Only negative thing I would say was about the outdoor grill, it was actually a small table top grill that hadnt been cleaned in some time but other than that really enjoyed our stay there.
Thank you again Bob for allowing us to rent this relaxing home away from home.

This property has a rock ledge frontage with deep water so the rise and fall of the tide will not affect the beautiful water view. There is a distant view of Petit Manan Lighthouse, Maine's second tallest, which flashes beautifully across the ocean at night. The Schoodic Section of Acadia National Park is about 8 miles away with unique and beautiful oceanfront, biking and hiking. The Schoodic Peninsula also includes three of Maine's most picturesque working harbors: Winter Harbor, Prospect Harbor, and Corea-by-the-Sea. Corea-by-the-Sea also has a lobster fisherman's cooperative only a couple miles from the cabin that sells to the public fresh lobsters daily at wholesale prices. Bike/kayak rentals and restaurants are close by.
