Amazing!

  • 5 of 5

I was a little concerned about doing a VRBO as we have always done all-inclusive so this was out of my comfort zone! Couldn't have asked for a better experience and must say I have been spoiled. The owner was super helpful in answering all of our questions ahead of our trip. House was incredible, pool fantastic and the views were breathtaking! We rented an ATV after a few days to get us back and forth from town for groceries and to the beaches (which were all great and quiet with the exception of Remanso where there were many many surfers to watch!). The house is situated in a gated community in Pacific Marlin which was nice. Streets are fairly steep but we had no issues in the Ranger. My favorite part about the whole vacation was meeting the family that stayed at the house to help cook, clean and take care of the pool. Absolutely loved Mayra, Milton and Fatima and after 10 days it was hard to leave them! Would definitely recommend a visit to Punta Marina! <3

Stunning view, clean big pool, beautiful house with a cook who has been there for 15 years! Perfect.

We just returned from an incredible 11 day holiday at Punta Marina. This was our first VRBO & I am pleased to stay we will be planning VRBO again. We arrived very Late at night & didn't get to truly see the beauty of our place till we woke the next morning. It was stunning. The view is absolutely breath taking. It over looks the bay & San Juan Del Sur.The pictures of the pool really don't do it justice as we were surprised how big it actually was.Our group was 2 families with 6 people & the pool more then accomadated all of us.We also appreciated that Milton lived there & also cleaned the pool many times a day.The set up for the house is unique, clean & works very well.Bedrooms are separate from the living & kitchen areas. Each bedroom is very large with more then enough room & all rooms had full bathrooms with showers. Bring eye masks as the curtains do not block out the morning sun which rises around 5:30am. Each room also had a/c & floor fans so you were assured to have a comfortable sleep. The biggest bedroom is closest to the pool & had a dresser, table & comfy chair in it while all other bedrooms just had closets. Bring extra hangers if you need to hang your clothes or do as we did & use the extra beds to keep your clothes organized. 3 rooms had 3 beds it in. Lots of room for big groups. The main living area is open air concept & was beautifully decorated with plenty of room to sit & enjoy the stunning views at any time of day or night. It also has two very nice Hamacas that were always occupied. Myra & Fatima were very helpful with directions to the fish market & are excellent cooks, maids & Spanish teachers. We made a mistake buying the wrong cut of Pork & thought it would take days to soften the tough meat but Myra worked her magic & the next day it was possibly one of the best meals we had eaten. We liked her cooking so much that we preferred eating at home rather then going to town. The house is very secure as is the whole area of Pacific Marlin. You pass through 3 security gates with 1 or 2 always being maned depending on who is staying in the area. There is also a locked gate on the house & Milton makes sure it is secure each night. We rented an ATV in town after walking a few days to town & paying for a taxi. The ATV was a perfect option & gave us the freedom we were looking for to tour around.Tiled areas can be slippery.Power does go out but hey you are at Beautiful Punta Marina with views that are beyond words.Life doesn't get any better. Loved it!

Dream House!

  • 5 of 5

This house was a dream house. It was absolutely beautiful and in immaculate condition. Spotlessly clean and well-appointed. The large living room is open to the sea air so you can fully enjoy the idyllic setting, sea breeze, and incredible views. The pool is kept nice and cold, cleaned every day and is better than it looks in the photos.

The rooms were lovely. We had speakers for music in the room, a surround sound in the living area (bring a cable so you can connect your music devices through the tv to enjoy music etc.) and a well-equipped kitchen to cook in or have the housekeeper Mayra cook for you (note: you will do your own grocery shopping so bring any special spices or ingredients with you; there are great little fruit and vegetable stands in town as well as a proper grocery store (Pali); meat and fish mongers (Mayra can direct you) and a great bakery - Pan de Vie.

We followed the 4-wheel drive comments with interest, and here is our take: you don't need it to get up and down to the house but I would recommend it so you can have an easy time of getting to the beautiful, near-empty beaches to the north and south of SJSD, particularly the Northern beaches as you will be dealing with some precarious dirt roads and if it rains you will need that 4-wheel.

Our entire family loved the house. Highly recommend.

DREAM HOUSE!

  • 5 of 5

This house is a dream. My husband and I took both our sets of parents and my brother to Nicaragua for a T-day family mini-vacation. As soon as we arrived at the home we had all our family ooh-ing and aah-ing. The house is beautifully-designed to most fully enjoy the idyllic setting. The entire family room is open to the sea breeze. The rooms are large and comfortable. The house is maintained in spotless condition. It is possible to walk down to the town from the house. The walk up is probably a bit more challenging but you can always get a taxi to take you back up. We closely followed the posts about whether to have 4-wheel drive or not. My take: you don't need it, but it is helpful, and if you want to travel to the beaches north of San Juan del Sur (just 30-minute drive and so worth it) then you definitely do want 4-wheel drive, though we did without (barely). Generally I recommend getting a car to get around so you can explore all the beautiful beaches around SJDS, which we had essentially to ourselves. We drove from Managua to Granada, spent a couple days there, and then down to SJSD.

The lovely housekeeper Mayra will cook for you upon request but you do all the shopping yourself so if you plan on taking advantage of this and have any favorite or special ingredients you can bring them along with you. There are fruit/veggie markets in town, a grocery store (Pali) and fish mongers along the back side of the beach (Mayra can tell you where). There is a fabulous bakery in town Pan de Vie. We also liked the more upscale seafood restaurant El Timon.

amazing place

  • 5 of 5

We had the most amazing time at this amazing house. Very unique set up with the bedrooms separate from the main kitchen, bar, living room - which we loved! The view is amazing from the entire property but we found it most enjoyable while relaxing in the pool looking over San Juan Del Sur Bay. The only tricky thing about this place is the steep long drive up the hill, but once you arrive - it is so so worth it!
