We took our first family vacation with our adult children. 6 adults, a 3 year old and a 4 1/2 month old. We all had our own lovely space with enough privacy for all of us. We had the boathouse for yoga and hiding from the babies. We had the game room with an unlimited amount of games for all ages. We had the cozy library with gas fireplace for reading. The massive stone fireplace in the main living room was wonderful. The enormous kitchen was wonderful for all of us, and so well stocked with every dish, pots, pans anything we needed. The large farm table accommodated all of us. We used every level of deck when it was nice out. Hung a hammock and was well used. We rented a pontoon for the week, so fishing and many fun Happy Hours on the boat. Loved having access to the washer and dryer especially with small kids. There is not a swimming beach, the steps leading to the dock are many, but very maneuverable when caution is used. Swam in the lake without having a beach, but our granddaughter was so busy running around doing other things, it didn't even occur to her she wasn't swimming. Lots of small towns around and we ate out several times. Toni was wonderful to work with, and has a beautiful property that she shares. Would definately stay again.
Pros- Toni is great to work with, the kitchen is top notch, the triple-tiered deck and screened in deck on top of boat house offer great views of the lake, Red Cedar is excellent lake to fish, the boat house by lake is also a great spot to store tubes, skis, and fishing gear, the cabin is very spacious and clean (we had 8 adults and 4 kids), the master bathroom is very nice, located 5 minutes from general store where we got supplies, gas and bait, we learned you can clean fish at the county campground's fish cleaning hut (5 minutes down the road) for 5 dollars a day...
Cons- Steps to the lake, not a lot of area to sit down by the lake, but the deck and boat house sort of evens that out...
This was our second year here. We caught numerous walleyes, pan fish, small mouth bass and even some nice perch. We have rented some very nice houses through VRBO over the last 12 years and this one ranks near the top.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time here. The view is amazing. This lake home/cabin is so beautifully appointed! As another reviewer indicated; even though we were on vacation we ate many beautiful meals and had much fun preparing them because of the well stocked and spacious kitchen. The large Farm table might be my favorite spot in the cabin! Fishing is good. Able to catch fish off the dock (walleye, bass, and bluegill). Rented a pontoon for the week that was easily docked. Lakes are not busy and easy to explore. so nice to be with family and still have "space" to get away.
Mosquitos are thick; we found coils and smoke sticks worked wonders so that we could sit on the deck in the evening and enjoy the view. This property is a perfect get away anytime of year! we WILL be back! Toni was a very gracious owner and went above and beyond to assist us in making our stay easy and comfortable. (She offered to mail me the shirt I forgot in the washing machine. wow!)
This property is the perfect escape for anyone that wants to enjoy the lake in a beautiful home. The cabin is huge with plenty of rooms to sit and relax. The kitchen is very well supplied and the porch has excellent views of the water. Toni was very accomodating and helpful in planning our stay there.
Our group of eight adults had a wonderful time!!! House was very clean, comfortable, and spacious! Kitchen was wonderful for cooking/fine dining! Lots of surrounding places to "check out". the location, setting, and lake view was awesome, as well as a beautiful woods, a large property. It was easy to find. We would stay here again, and have been telling our friends about it!! The book collection in the reading room was very impressive. Overall, a "10"!!
this is our third time at the house and have thoroughly enjoyed every time. The porperty is well maintained and equipped for a group. We like the bonus spaces such as library and game room inside and screened porch outside. Plenty of space if you want some privacy. I don't think that the web site does the property justice as is much larger than you might imagine. Great lake as well. We will be back for sure
