About DMRR

We are a family of 4 living in the Metro Atlanta area. We're all nature lovers and love traveling and spending time outdoors. In the summer of 2003 we vacationed on SGI and loved it completely and returned a month later to look for a place to call our own and we bought 'Hang Ten' in September.

Hang Ten is so popular with return guests that we had little chance to visit it ourselves. We began looking for another house to balance with Hang Ten and in 2007 we bought a cottage called 'Boardwalk'. With two houses on SGI we are able to go there often and take care of the properties and enjoy sharing them with guests.

Our goal is to make our guests happy.

In 2013 we will start to manage the properties ourselves, with the help of Community Management Services, Inc. (CMSI). We are very fortunate to have found CMSI - a very experienced, St. George Island-based company - to handle the housekeeping and maintenance for us. They can provide a more cusotmized service for our houses and their goals include a very welcoming house upon your arrival and no need for service calls.

DMRR purchased this cottage in 2007

Clean, comfortable, convenient.

  • 5 of 5

As always we enjoyed our vacation on SGI. Boardwalk was clean and the bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable. With the exception of the lack of an iron skillet the kitchen was well stocked.

Home fantastic, minor upgrades necessary

  • 3 of 5

The home was well maintained and clean, location was right on the beach as promised and fantastic. Water pressure was great in the showers (always a concern of mine!). The majority of the items that we were unhappy with are easily fixable. A) Two out of three of the couples were unhappy with the beds. They were extremely soft and we "sank" into them. Reading the past reviews, everyone seemed happy with them, so maybe it's just that we prefer a firmer mattress. If you want a firm mattress, you will not be happy with the ones in the home. B) The throw pillows around the home (on the beds and the couches) were tattered and worn, they need replacement. C) The blankets and quilts on the beds were tattered and worn and also need replacement. D) The pillows on the beds (except for the master bedroom lower level) were worn and need replacement. E) The cutting/chopping knives in the kitchen were disappointing as we love to cook and had a hard time chopping/cutting just about everything. . Guests would be better served with (3) good knives (and a sharpener on site) than 12 that appear to have come from Dollar General. Great home, great owners, just needs a little TLC on the minor items. We were short a sheet and called the number provided and they brought one quite quickly, so service was great. Buy bread at the spice shop across the street, it's great! Go to the State Park, it's desolate and beach walking was a blast there. If you want organic meat, or any good organic produce, do NOT shop at the Piggly Wiggly in Apalacacola (sp), their store had neither. The store on the island (at the gas station) is no better, regardless of what you might read elsewhere! Suggest that you grocery shop at the city that you flew into and cart it to the home, we could not find any organic produce or organic meat ANYWHERE and that was disappointing. Lots of dogs everywhere, that was great! Not a monopoly game in the house, which made all of us laugh! Great place to do just about NOTHING every single day, who can ask for more?

Owner's Response: Thank you for the comments, it is always good to have input from a different perspective. For many visitors one of the great charms of St. George Island and surroundings is the lack of commercialization; no Starbucks, no outlet malls, etc. But some will also find there's something that they miss having available. We wonder if the IGA grocery was tried, it is also in Apalachicola (a couple of miles past the Piggly Wiggly) and does have a limited selection of organic foods. Well, we're surprised that all of the Monopoly games have disappeared so quickly, but that is easily corrected, as are the other items. Although some of the bedding is quite new and the cutlery high end, we do strive to make sure the total experience is unblemished and are doing a comprehensive re-stocking. Thank you for letting us know.

Perfect beach house!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first visit to SGI. We loved the island and our stay in Boardwalk! The house could not be anymore convenient... right on the beach and across the street from anything else you might need (stores, restaurants, basketball, bike and water sports rentals, etc). The house was clean, spacious, and had everything we needed to enjoy the week. Nice flatscreen tv's, nice beds, well appointed kitchen, two decks with amazing views, etc.. The monopoly theme and decor was fun too.

To the owners, thank you for sharing your beautiful home! Everything was perfect! We had a great week and hope to be back soon.

Owner's Response: We're always happy to help someone discover St. George Island, and it's great to hear that you enjoyed your stay so much! And thank you for the comments - we do work hard to make sure Boardwalk only adds to the island's charms and it is good to know that our work is paying off.

Fabulous Beachfront Home!

  • 5 of 5

I recently stayed at Boardwalk on St. George Island with my husband, daughter, sister-in-law and brother-in-law. The accommodations were perfect for us. Two master suites and a loft for my daughter. The beds were very comfortable. The walk to the beach is much shorter than it looks in the photos. The home was clean with everything you need. A few more dish towels and dish rags would be nice. There was only one of each. There are a lot of stairs, which didn't bother us at all, but something to consider if stairs are an issue for you. The island is great for a relaxing vacation. The beaches are not crowded at all. The Blue Parrot is a great restaurant right on the beach. Apalachicola is nice for shopping and not a far drive. Overall we really enjoyed our stay at Boardwalk and will definitely return in the future.

Nicely decorated with everything related to the Monopoly game and Boardwalk.

FABULOUS!

  • 5 of 5

While staying at The Boardwalk, we were so comfortable! It was very clean & the Monopoly themed décor was great! The location of this home is ideal. You can walk almost everywhere. We fished on the beach, flew kites, watched dolphins in the surf, visited the lighthouse & park, & walked to have ice cream almost daily. Also, we contracted a fishing guide for a day, and visited Appalachicola's Estuary. Both were awesome! We would highly recommend this property. Thank you for allowing us to feel so at home while we vacationed. We will be back!!
