Perfect Peace and Relaxation

We just returned from a fabulous week at this home. It was the perfect place for us to get away to "be together" as a family. The house was immaculate and well furnished. The layout is very open and comfortably furnished. We ate all of our meals on the screened in porch overlooking the bay. Fine grained white sand lines the beach and the bay floor. The beach is jettied and the set up perfect for wading, swimming, and frolicing in the water. Our two and six year olds were thrilled with the set up and spent very few daylight hours in the house! The back yard is spacious and open for playing...we flied kites and set up volleyball. We enjoyed the moonlit view of the bay from the hot tub in the evenings...perfection! The neighbors were friendly but not intrusive. It was amazing that the only sounds we heard were water lapping at the shore and lots of birds! Truly a perfect get away.
Fifteen minute drive to "anything"...groceries and restaurants. The town of Exmore was charming and well stocked with two grocery stores and several restaurants. We hit the Exmore Diner twice for homemade pie...dinner was good--typical diner food, lots of locals. The Captain's Deck restaurant had very good food, large portions and reasonable prices. The Great Machipongo Clam Shack disappointed us...food was fine, portions small, high prices. A great find was the town of Wachapreague and the Island House restaurant...excellent food and prices...beautiful view. Wachapreague Fire Carnival lasts for a month and was a great evening of fun for the kids! We day tripped up to Chincotegue to see the ponies, but were grateful to escape to our solitude at the end of the day.
This is a fabulous spot to spend time together away from it all. The sunsets were magnificent! Peace and quiet supreme.
