Family Retreat

What do you call a place surrounded by nature’s bounty and grassy carpet, steps away from white sandy beaches? Graced with nightly sunsets over the water, the picturesque landscape was reminiscent of an oriental garden, peaceful and serene. Purple martins, red winged black birds, blue heron and Osprey frequented the skies daily and the nightly ocean breezes were a welcome companion to clear star filled nights.
For all that encircled it, the spacious home itself was prepared to appreciate its surroundings and experiences that its chattels offered, while for the adventurous, not a minute of the day would pass without finding someway to explore, appreciate and just enjoy what the Chesapeake had to offer.
We came to this place for a quiet vacation. We found retreat. We are a family of five varied in ages 14 to 52, with pets in tow and all agree, though amenities were slightly farther away than we had hoped and distance limited agendas of daily excursions to popular play spots, we found enough to do without having to leave our new found resort…We fished, kayaked, jet skied, played volleyball and enjoyed a private beach over a half a football field in length.
The Captains Deck Restaurant is no longer with us...We found we had to travel to Cape Charles for upscale dining, the Clam shack restaurant was the closest, with a take out option. In a pinch you could find fast food in Exmore or 10 miles north of Exmore in Onley. To explore Antiques, Artwork, nature and history on the Eastern shore, be prepared to travel, and if you find yourself headed north, stop by Turner Sculptures Art Gallery on Route 13 for some of amazing bronze artwork.
If the busy shore vacation with plenty of things to do, boardwalks, ice cream shops and amusement parks is what you are looking for, this may not be the spot …If you have a strong appreciation for a simpler life, enjoy the outdoors and want to be around those you care about most, this is the place to share memories. The people here a friendly: the pace reminiscent of a day when values and appreciating the tangible things in life are the greater assets. A place to find peace…
What do we call this place? Memorable…
