Information about the apartment:
Fondue and Raclette utensils, large sled, small children's sled, children's high chair, 1 cot, games cupboard, hiking information (including maps), 1 living-/bedroom, 1 bunk bedroom, bed linen on demand. The 3 room apartment is very well set-up with an open fireplace, Raclette- and fondue utensils, a new high quality high chair, a cot, a games cupboard, hiking information including maps, a sled for small children, a humidifier, etc. There are two bedrooms. One has a double bed and the other has a bunk bed (2 m long). Bed linen is available on request (10 CHF/bed). There is a big terrace with a sand pit surrounded by a wooden fence. It is also well suited for small children. There is a very friendly and helpful lady who looks after all of the apartments. Other things of interest:
You won’t have any problem with shopping in Saas Grund. There is a row of big and small businesses and you can find everything there. For example, there is a bakery about four minutes from the house. Tip: Take notice of the bottle refund. You can use the Internet corner to check your mailbox etc. It is next to the bakery. There are public telephones on the street and in the post office. There is also a pharmacy, a doctor and a bank in Saas Grund. You will find a little playground about 250 metres up the hill from the house at the Triftbach.
Visitors’ tax, guest cards and buses:
In the apartment you can find forms for the visitors’ tax and guest cards. Please pay the taxes at the tourist office (opposite the post office). With a guest card you can profit from a number of reductions. For example, ski passes, parking fees, tennis, internet corner etc. In the tourist office you can find more good deals for bus travel, day trips etc. There are special deals for families. There is a good bus network. A bus travels hourly from Saas Grund to Rhonetal (Visp, Brig, Sion). The bus stop is called Unter dem Berg and is 4-5 min. from the house. A fast bus travels to Brig train station.
Ski:
The sunny Hohsaas ski area (3,100 m) has 35 km of runs. It takes 8 minutes to get to the lift station by foot. There is an ice-hockey field where one can play ice-hockey or go figure skating. The valley has cross-country trails (26 km). Also there is a long sled run for both children and adults to have fun. There is a children's lift behind the house. When there is enough snow you can return directly to the house on your skis/snowboards. The nearby (3 km) Saas-Fee offers an additional 100 km of skiing pleasure, including a summer ski area. A bus goes regularly to Saas Fee (bus station 4-5 min.).
