As a family, we have been diving for years and it the hobby has taken us in many places, from the Caribbean to the Galapagos Islands. Cozumel is the place where we have been coming back again and again for the beautiful reef and the our mexican friends, first in our timeshare and finally in our own home.
Your Cozumel purchased this house in 2005
We have been going to Cozumel for years, love the place the people and the diving. At some point, we decided to buy our own place and share it with family and friends and rent it so others can appreciate how beautiful the island is. Costa Del Sol is perfectly located, not far from town, yet secluded enough to be quiet. For divers and snorkelers, the reef (Tormentos, Yukab, Palmas) is right in front of the community and Palancar is 15 mn away by boat).
Being an avid diver, I really love the quietness and the fact that I only have to walk to the end of the community pier to be picked up by the diving boat.
The 2nd floor patio is also something we particularly love. Partially covered with a Palapa, it's the perfect spot to nap in the hammock when the sun is high in the afternoon. At night, we like to gather with our friends around drinks and have dinner while enjoying the last rays of light on the water.
Yes Michel we had a wonderful time! My son and his girlfriend got engaged on your beach and it was a big surprise for her. I really appreciate your honesty about everything. Everyone at Costa del Sol was wonderful. I'm glad I found your house. My address at the office:
We left the frozen wasteland of New England to arrive in Paradise at Casa Caterina in Costa Del Sol! Amber, Vanessa and Rodrigo were awesome. Answered every question we asked and were available whenever we needed them. The house was beautiful. bigger than the pictures. The bathrooms were huge. The grounds were well maintained and the pool was perfect. Very clean. We were a party of 7 and never felt crowded. This was our first time to Cozumel. Island is a great place to go. People are friendly, food was fantastic everywhere we went. We went to Kinta, Palmeras, Cocholitas?(I know I spelled this one wrong!) Tiki Tok for breakfast, and Del Sur Empanadas Argentina. All were great. And if you want to stay at the house and eat, we highly recommend Filo, the personal chef. It was hard to choose between him or a restaurant. Went to Mr Sanchos for a whole day. Get the all inclusive, its worth it. Food was good, not great, but the location and service was great. And who passes up an all you can drink package. Amber informed us that we would be arriving during Carnaval. Did not know about it. We went to it on the Saturday we arrived and Fat Tuesday. What an event! Fantastic time! And the people where so friendly. Let my daughter and niece jump in and take pics during the parade. Even let my daughter climb onto one of the floats ! Would highly recommend Casa Catarina and Costa Del Sol to anyone. Great time, place, weather, food, people and property managers. Hope to return!
We stayed at Casa Catarina for a week in February and we had a fabulous vacation. My sister and her family and our friends and their family stayed in Villa Martini just down the path from us. In total our group was 13 people (6 adults and 7 young children, all under age 6). The home was huge and very comfortable for our family (we did not even use the upper level for sleeping). We loved having the kids pool as well as the regular pool for our kids to spend hours playing in, and the beach right adjacent to the pool was great for the kids as well as for us to watch them. We took everyone to Chankanaab park to swim with the dolphins and manatees, which the kids thought was fantastic. We spent a day at Chen Rio beach on the other side of the island and it was absolutely beautiful. Amber, Vanessa and Rodrigo also arranged a for a boat to take us out on the water one day where we were able to walk around on sand dunes and do some snorkeling in absolutely beautiful water. Watching the breath-taking sunsets over the water every evening was definitely a highlight and something that we looked forward to every evening. We rented the SUV from the homeowner and found that it was a great decision as it was reasonably priced and we liked the convenience of having Vanessa pick us up in it at the airport. Vanessa, Amber and Rodrigo were always available to assist us with anything we needed. They were very knowledgeable about everything on the island; anything you want to do they will arrange for you.
Advice for future visitors would be to be aware of the fact that credit cards are not widely accepted, basically anywhere on the island (including Your Cozumel), so it is important to come with cash. We found that even the bank machines were often unreliable. It was a bit of a hassle to have to drive in every day or two to withdraw more money, and we did not love having to carry large quantities of cash on us every day (although it is important to say that we always felt safe on the island and in our gated community). Additionally, it is good to stock up on food and any other amenities you may need when you get there (or get Vanessa to get them for you prior to arriving), as it was a bit of a drive into the supermarket (and more of a hassle because we did have young children in our group).
Overall we loved our vacation and found that for us, it was a great place to visit as a family. We are already planning to come back.
Escaping the snow and ice to come to Casa Catarina was just what we wanted as a couple. Way down south on the island, this remote cluster of homes was our first choice for a quiet, tropical getaway. Our fellow guests were friendly but also quiet at night so we could look at the stars or the sunset in peace. The "YourCozumel" property managers were hospitable and helpful as usual. The house is huge but comfortable, we loved the second floor open-air porch looking onto the ocean, and the many screened windows to take advantage of the ocean breezes and rain showers. The option to rent the SUV worked out great, allowing easy travel around the island. It sleeps 8! We're want to come back with our whole family next time.
We spent a week on Cozumel this past March and it was fantastic! Casa Catarina is a beautiful home in a lovely small, quiet community. We were pleasantly surprised at the size of the home. The pictures do not do it justice! We were a group of 7 with 3 children ages 3-13 and there was more than enough space for everyone. The beds were very comfortable and each room had a very large bathroom. The pool was great and there was a smaller pool for our toddler as well. We were busy going on adventures most days - exploring beaches (chen rio and punta sur were all around faves and all of the kids loved playa mia). Amber, Rodrigo and Vanessa made every effort to ensure we had all that we needed during our stay. They helped us to find a rental van to fit all 7 of us, Set us up with Alberto for an amazing snorkel tour of Colombia and Playancar reefs and even stocked the fridge for us for our first night with supper and drinks after a long day of travel. We had a wonderful trip to the island and would definitely love to get back to this little paradise! Thanks so much for everything Amber, Rodrigo and Vanessa.. we very much appreciate your wonderful hospitality!
WOW! Those are the first, second, and third words out of the mouths of all of our guests who came and shared time with us during the month of April, 2013. We rented this beautiful home in Cozumel to celebrate my retirement and invited family and friends to visit us on the island. The home is beyond wonderful, better than any pictures or "advertisement" can describe it. My only concern in writing this review is that EVERYONE might find out how awesome this home is and it might be hard to find open time to return! However, writing less than how spectacular our stay was wouldn't be fair to the terrific owner, Michel, and to the caring and attentive property managers, Rodrigo and Amber.
Michel was very easy to communicate with and it was wonderful to stay in his vacation home for a whole month. The home has been decorated with much thought. There are pictures Michel has taken on dives adorning the walls, along with splendid handmade quilts made by Michel's wife. The master suite is the whole second floor and includes a walk-in closet and it's own central air conditioning unit and thermostat. The second floor also has a spectacular partially covered patio 1700 square foot outdoor living area, and has a great view of the ocean. Many hours were passed in complete luxury here, talking, relaxing, and watching beautiful sunsets.
The kitchen is great and has everything you need, including the required tropical paradise equipment like a blender for the frozen drinks. The coffee pot gave out one morning, but a quick email to Rodrigo and a new coffee pot appeared before the next morning! We can't say enough incredible things about property managers Rodrigo and Amber - THEY are what make a GREAT house into an AWESOME vacation experience.
Rodrigo helped our kids set up their diving (past reviewers wrote more on this and we found it all to be absolutely true!) and other trips. But he truly saved Uncle Dave's vacation when Rodrigo assisted us at the police station in filling out ten pages of official reports when Uncle Dave lost his passport! He turned a possibly miserable experience into a manageable situation that has become an infamous story about visiting the Mexican police station (not part of the planned tour!). After that adventure the massages we scheduled at the house with Fabis were exceptionally relaxing!!
Thank you again, Michel, Rodrigo, and Amber! We have been to Cozumel a number of times in the past, but this was THE BEST!
Big nice house! This was a 3 generations trip with both my kids and my parents, and 3 of my siblings. plenty of space for us to be together, or hide from each other. 3 big bedrooms, big bathrooms, big balcony/deck. Easy access to the pool and the ocean. Split level pool was perfect for my kids(5, 4 yrs). The area is very secure little neighborhood type place. There is a small conrete ramp just a few yards north of the pier that was perfect for launching our kayaks. And a nice litle patch reef out beyond the bouy line, great for a refresher dive before our boat dives. Dive boats pick up right at the pier which saves a ton of time. Morning boat dive days were 9-noon instead of 8-1pm. That really helped get in other activities with the non divers in our group. The photos posted don't really give you a good idea of things. Better than I expected!
