Located on a quiet cul-du-sac just a few minutes from downtown St Petersburg, and an even shorter drive to the Dali Museum, Tropicana (Tampa Bay Rays) Stadium, Bayfront and All Childrens Hospitals, and other area landmarks, Tropical Shores is a quaint deep water boating community that many feel has still yet to be discovered.
Our home is on 90 feet of boatable deep water with both a large slip that can accommodate up to a 50 ft yacht and a newer boat lift for 23 ft and smaller fishing boats. Our 48 foot dock has a large 12 x 20 head with benches and rails for viewing sunsets (all year around) and dolphins and manatee who often visit our area. Our large back porch (15 ft X 35 ft) includes a pottery barn lounge set and teak dining table for 8, as well as a fire pit w/lounge chairs and a large hammock.....all under cover in case a summer rain passes through.
We are minimalists at heart and redesigned our house with a very open and expansive mindset. Walk into our panoramic great room greeting you from the moment you enter the home. A gourmet kitchen and integrated living and dining area makes for a wonderful entertainment space. Expansive water views through floor to ceiling sliders make this an unforgetable experience from dawn to sunset.
With all of the things to do around St Pete, we find that we don't leave often when visiting our home.

Our rental house wasn't initially meant to be a vacation rental property, but our family's house to reside full time. When our son Lucas was diagnosed with autism, we were faced with a decision that required us to move to a location in South Florida that has premier treatment facilities. The costs to treat autism are high and we felt compelled to share our St Petersburg home with vacationers who can truly appreciate the beauty the area while we work through this transitional period. As time goes by and Lucas' schooling allows us to move back to our house, it will be solely for us to enjoy again, but the memories of the many families who stayed here and enjoyed our little taste of paradise will always be present.
The Owner purchased this house in 2002
We purchased our house for many reasons. Our area, Tropical Shores, is one of the better kept secrets in St Pete. We are minutes from downtown, the Salvador Dali museum, and the restaurant/theatre district, and a twenty minute drive to the beaches and Tampa. We also get full patio/dock sunsets year around. We love deep water (there are many houses in ST Pete where you can dock a boat, but VERY FEW where you can dock boats 30 feet and larger). Our area has deep water and we can accomodate a vessal up to 50ft in length. We always found the neighbors to be warm, the area great for exercising, and always pleasant to come home to.
Our area is typically very quiet and relaxing. There is not a lot of external noise except for the ocassional boat or plane passing by. Most months of the year we experience an exceptional breeze in our neighborhood which is both pleasant and reduces the mosquito population in our area. Although Florida has a reputation of being hot and humid in the summer, we find that the breeze is frequent and consistent enough to keep our patio and dock cool......not just when we are relaxing at home, but also when taking lengthy evening walks, long bike rides on the miles of nearby trails and morning/evening jogs throughout our neighborhood with awesome views of Tampa Bay. We enjoy being very close to downtown St Pete, Tropicana Stadium to watch the Tampa Bay Rays, the Beaches, Clearwater, and Tampa.....and when we are in the mood for a longer drive, we visit Tarpon Springs which has a wonderful waterfront Greek community that sells merchandise identical to what we brought home from Athens after our honeymoon cruise years ago (if we knew that before departing we could have saved 20 lbs of luggage!).
Such a great find in the St. Petes area! This rental exceeding all of our expectations!
We booked this house to film documentary interviews in for a docu-drama series. Paul was extremely helpful and accommodating to the needs of our film crew and check in was impossibly easy. Our crew came home with incredible things to say about this property and all wished we had let them stay there!
A perfect paradise in St. Petes!
This rental would be very difficult to top. Three phrases come to mind: elegantly furnished, intelligently organized and spaciously laid out. The seven page guide answered almost every question that came to mind and manuals for the high-tech appliances were accessible and totally helpful. The open space could easily become intimate because of the layout of furniture - four chairs and a table under a flower draped pergola, four chairs around a fire pit, an outdoor picnic table with seating for six, an indoor formal table with seating for six. an outdoor jacuzzi for 2 - 6, the list goes on. My family and friends were totally enamored.
What a glorious setting for the meeting and greeting of my youngest grandchild.
This house was amazing and was above and beyond what we expected. When we walked in the door I almost cried it was perfect and so beautiful. The outdoor area is so relaxing and peaceful. We saw dolphins about 15ft from the private dock. The back sliding doors all slide open so you have a beautiful view. We were in paradise and didn't want to leave!! Paul the owner was very helpful and kind. Whenever we can come back to the area, I hope we will be lucky enough to stay there again!!
Our visit to St Pete was for our daughters wedding. We needed a place that was close in, but offered space to have our family and friends come on by. And we needed a place where we could bring in the bridemaids...and the hair and makeup people...and the photographers/videographers...and the florists...and the family who stops in for all the action. Could this house hold that many people at once? YES. That is how big the common area is in this house! We were thrilled to find this beautiful house. You won't be disappointed in this great home.
This rental exceeded our expectations in so many ways. The photos don't do justice to how the interior living space flows to the outdoor space. We tended to venture away during the day and return to the house during the evening to settle in. The kitchen is well appointed and designed for the cook(s) of the evening to socialize with the rest of the group with a glass of wine at the sizable granite ell. Then the choice of the evening is whether to dine inside, or al fresco. Paul was very accessible, and prompt in response to any question we had. Great location, 5 minutes from Downtown St. Pete, 20-25 minutes to TPA. The house is in a nice, quiet residential neighborhood. I will echo others to say that the Dali Museum is a must see attraction. We would definitely not hesitate to stay at this wonderful home again.
Having traveled the world and stayed in an array of accommodations-hotels, resorts, camp sites, vacation rentals, hostels, B&Bs-I am happy to report that this home is one of my favorite vacation/travel spots yet. The house is spacious, well-appointed and beautiful. As a native to St. Petersburg, I can't imagine a more ideal place to bring my out of town friends and introduce them to all there is to love about this place. We drank wine on the dock and watched the dolphins and pelicans up close and personal as the sun set. We had first-thing-in-the-morning coffee and last-thing-at-night cocktails in the hot tub. We slept like kittens in the big, comfy beds. The location is absolutely perfect, too. It's close enough to all the places you want to be--downtown with the restaurants, art and action and the beach, too--but it's just enough out of the way that you don't have to put up with parking issues, tourists, or noise. Again, as a proud native of St. Pete, I just can't imagine a more desirable location or a more fabulous spot to call home for a few days. In fact, we all daydreamed quite a bit that it actually WAS our home...we certainly didn't want to leave, and we had plans to return before we'd even spent a day there. In short, quit your search, this is just where you want to stay! Paul gets special kudos, too, for his timely and thorough help as we asked questions and needed some help navigating the rental agreement ( not that it's complicated, we're just new at vacation home rentals). Many, many thanks, and please save us a spot for 2013!
