To take advantage of the incredibly long and wide-open views down valleys in all directions, we have built two 'portales' (porches), one on the north and one on the south sides of the casita, so you can sit on the north side and gaze down the valley and over the lake to see the red cliffs, or you can bask in the warmth of the sun on the shaded southern portal, as you look across valleys towards the surrounding Jemez Mountains and Cerro Pedernal, the 10,000-foot, flat-topped mountain that O'Keeffe loved to paint and the Native Americans regarded as a spiritual site. Since there are no city lights to compete, sunsets, sunrises, and the endless stars at night are spectacular from both porches - especially from the outdoor Hot Tub.
Note: We live in Santa Fe and are available to our guests, almost by the hour.

Aditional Guest Book Comments:
09/11/08-Positive Rating-Lisa Newcomb , Oklahoma: * I didn't have the chance to write in the guest book while I was there but I wanted to put a great review up for this place. My friend from work and I road triped up there and stayed for three nights. The views from the casita were amazing and it was extremely relaxing hanging out in the hot tub or just sitting out on back/front porch. One place I do have to recommend like crazy is Casa Blancas, it is an extremely easy hike and has some wonderful views! We were able to walk right up to it and have a picnic lunch by it. If you don't feel like leaving *totally understandable* try hiking down the big hill in the back. I went down there and found some dried up stream bed looking areas and it is a nice hike up. I took my dog and this is by far the most pet friendly place I have been too. She had a blast getting to hike around with us and even went swimming down at the lake. The casita was clean and was everything they said it was.
