Why David Cooper chose Capitol Hill

I purchased this home when I moved to DC in October of 2006 and immediately began a complete remodel of the entire dwelling. My intent was to live in rather than rent the house, but a year and a half later when the remodel was finally complete, my basement apartment tenant decided to move out and next thing I knew, I had moved into the basement and began remodeling it as well. It was at that time I began renting the main house (with all my belongings in it!) to longer term transient renters. Only after discovering VRBO in 2009 did I realize how great my house would be for people wanting to visit Washington DC while on vacation. Since then I've continued to offer the main house to people wanting a great house in an ideal location for seeing our nation's capital.

What makes this house unique

No expense was spared in remodeling and furnishing this house. You will be staying in an historic home complete with modern amenities. Location-wise, everything you need (restaurants, groceries, shopping, Metro) is within 2 blocks and everything you want to see (Capitol, Library of Congress, National Mall, Smithsonian museums) is just a few blocks further and within easy walking distance. Live amongst the locals and truly feel at home during your visit!

Amazing Location

We have stayed at many vacation rentals and this one is right up there with the best.

Easy walking distance to Union Station, Capitol, Library of Congress and Smithsonian.
We were there for a week and took a cab or bus only once. A car would have been a nuisance.

Tastefully furnished and very clean. Great kitchen.

David provided us with referrals to several small, ethnic (Italian, French, German, Irish) restaurants. All were reasonably priced with excellent food, and located within a few blocks of the townhouse.

There were four people in our group (two senior couples). Six people would have been very comfortable.

We felt that this was a very good value.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Romantic Getaway

We had a great stay. The property was clean and well maintained, located in a quiet neighborhood convenient to Union Station. The local markets allowed us to stock up on groceries when we arrived and eat breakfasts in before venturing out for the remainder of the day to see the sights of Washington. Our group consisted of two families with children and this row house was perfect for our needs. I would highly recommend this property to friends and family visiting the DC area.

Lovely house, great location!

Even though our stay in DC was short, we had a great time visiting the city while staying at David's house.

Everything was in perfect condition and very clean, spacious (we were a party of six and felt really comfortable), and the location is perfect. Two blocks from Union Station and in a beautiful neighborhood.
The photos show exactly what David's house offers.

We did not have much personal contact with David during our stay, but he was a great host, very attentive and polite answering our mails before as well as after the stay.

We would certainly recommend this house to anyone visiting DC!

The Place to Stay in DC

What a great apartment. We had a group of six, we used the kitchen to have our niece's young children over for dinner. It was a central location for sight seeing and lots of room for a great family visit. David, the owner stopped by to say hi. The house is very clean and well appointed, the neighborhood is great. Only regret was it was too cold to use the outside patio- maybe next time

David, our family had a great time in the DC area and thank you for your hospitality. The house met all of our needs and was convenient to most locations on our list of things to see and do. The only places we chose to drive to was the Air and Space Museum and Arlington.

Union Station was very convenient and after a long day out and about, it was great to come back to the house and relax. Also, the restaurants in the area were fantastic.

As mentioned, we were missing our three dogs left at home and we appreciated "The Lincoln Fix". His name comes up in every conversation we have with friends and family regarding our trip.

We would certainly recommend your home to anyone coming to the DC area.
