Bridgehampton Vacation Rental farmhouse

My wife, 1-year old son, nanny and I spent a wonderful week at this authentic farmhouse cottage in July 2009. It has all the advantages of the discrete style and effortless grace of well-aged, comfortable 18th century bones, but with a supremely comfortable overlay of contemporary amenities and the owner's literally faultless design sense. We intended to do tick off those Hamptons cliches, wander down to beaches, go wandering about at high speed and so on....we literally hardly moved from the cottage's well-manicured lawns and pool. Our son stretched his legs for the first time with no real worries and developed from hesitant wobble to confident sprinter here at Bridgehampton (of course that may present us with other issues in coming years, but we will always remember his first "real" steps here and the fun we all had watching them!)

We had a lovely time here. The house is close enough to Bridgehampton to walk or cycle in to town to Citerellas or Starbucks as your compulsions require, but far enough away from them, or anything else to allow you to feel quite alone.

I can't think of a single reason not to rent this great house. Great location, friendly and helpful owner (who very kindly and without complaint though with understandable laughter, brought my forgotten dental retainers to Manhattan.... but that's another story!), lovely house, everything you "need" in close proximity, everything you might "want" available too if you can bring yourself to leave after the first few hours.
