Be near Boston, but feel like you’re in Maine or on the Cape. 230 degree bold ocean views, sunrises and sunsets. Peaceful neighborhood. Hull Yacht Club/sailing down the street. Enjoy spectacular sunrises and sunsets, overlook boats & ships passing in the harbor. Sit in the lovely fenced back yard. Enjoy oceanview walking. Public access to harbor across the street and a 5 minute walk to the quiet end of Nantasket Beach, a 3.5 mile white sand beach excellent for swimming and children. Cleaning, linens, beach things and bikes provided. Great oceanside bicycling in our area, right from the house. One of Hull's finest streets, some of Hull's finest views from this home.
Downstairs: Open concept Kitchen, living room, den (with foldout queen sleeper couch, closets, and patio doors to 3 decks), full updated bath (airjet tub). Gas fireplace makes winter days cozy. Outdoor shower off kitchen for washing off beach sand. Upstairs: Three bedrooms, one king, one w two twins + trundle bed (sleeps 3), one queen; master bath + other full bath, all new in 2012. Washer/Dryer upstairs (new in 2012). Third floor huge studio, high ceilings with sleeper couch, magnificent views. Fourth floor large roof deck accessible from third floor hall. In basement open ocean view room, beach chairs and equipment, including bikes. Parking for 4-5 cars. Manager living down the street.
Juliet bought the house in 2005. She and her husband are university professors in the Boston area. With friends and children they love the house away from the city. In the fall of 2012 a major renovation of the house went forward, changing what had been a 1.5 storey cape to this much larger home. The purpose was to add a study for Juliet, a garage, and room for guests and visiting colleagues. The decks off the house make it a splendid retreat in any season of the year, outdoor views of the ocean and fresh air may be easily gained from all levels of the home. We only rent in the summer, minimum stay for a month. The private yard is perfect for play or rest. While the lapping ocean waves can be heard in the distance, the house is a bit quieter than those directly on the waterfront, as it is across the street, up an incline. It is also an open but flexible floor plan design, which feels cozy for a small group, but is roomy enough for 10 people, each of whom can retreat to their own section of the house when they want to. A commuter boat or easy drive takes us to the city, but we feel as if we are far away in Maine or on the Cape while we're there. Great people in Hull: a mixed and festive community. The natural amenities are extraordinary and Hull will never be overbuilt. Simply a beautiful, restful place, closer to the city. Our neighborhood is the tops!
Commuter boat to the city 22 minutes, just .7 mile away; 240 degrees of water views; 360 degrees of sun in the house and yard. A great reverse commute from the city, as well as a commute to the city. No flood worries, no wind worries, but we see all the large waves from the fall nor'easters. Beautiful every time of year, low key and fun. We relax there.
Hull is a beach town on a peninsula in Boston Harbor (see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PpnKx_Dl08I). It is part of the south shore of Boston, neighboring communities include Cohasset and Hingham. But Hull is distinguished by having a beautiful white sand beach of over a mile, water everywhere, a relaxed and festive atmosphere with delicious and affordable restaurants and fish shops, and it is also commutable to Boston by MBTA commuter boat.
You feel as if you are away from it all down in Hull, but you are right near the city. Allerton Hill, where this house is located, is perhaps the best neighborhood in Hull, with spectactular views of the Harbor Islands and a quiet, green feel.
