Great location, fantastic apartment.

Our family of 5 stayed here and it was perfect for us. The two older boys had their own beds in their own bedroom and the adults and baby had the other room. The separate living room was great for lounging in at night after the kids had gone to bed, with the large plasma TV. Internet access was provided by the owner as well.

The building is a beautiful historic house, but the apartments have been renovated to make them modern living spaces. The furnishings, fixtures and equipment supplied are great. With three kids we love being able to cook our own meals and eat at home and all the needs to do so were supplied. There is even a dishwasher! Food was easily available from a quick walk to nearby supermarkets and markets. A 7-11 was also only a block’s walk away for those everyday needs like bread and milk. As one other reviewer mentioned the eating area is a breakfast bar with bar stools setup which only had room for 3 stools, so we could only eat in shifts for breakfast and for dinners one person sat at the kitchen bench. This is a very minor drawback though and should not detract from the other wonderful facilities. Use of a washing machine and dryer in the same building is also great with a young family. The apartment was up a flight of stairs, but besides the initial haul getting our bags up this was not an issue.

Larry the owner (and probably previous guests) had provided a drawer full of brochures on the sights of Washington to help us in planning our time there. Larry also left a map of the area and notes on where to find restaurants, shops and other things in the area so we could find our way around easily.

We had no car and the location of this apartment was fantastic. It is a one block walk to a whole lot of restaurants and cafes. I wanted an apartment close enough to a station so at the end of a long day sightseeing with young kids it wouldn’t be an arduous walk home and it was great – only 3 blocks. The station is only 4-6 stations (7-10 min) from most of the sights in Washington and no changes of line needed. Buses also depart nearby to get you to Georgetown and other areas not serviced by the Metro.

There was a nice playground and park about 5 blocks walk away, which ours kids loved. The apartment is in a pleasant neighbourhood, with friendly locals who would often say hello as we walked past.

Larry was a great host always available via mobile phone to help us out when required. A wonderful place to stay.

Very nice place!

The apartment description is just what you will find – cozy, spacious and in great location. Walking distance to the metro and a grocery store. Plenty of restaurants and bars around. Very short distance by metro to the main tourist attractions. Larry, the owner of the apartment is very responsive and courteous. Also, we found it very convenient that the washer and dryer (as well as detergent, Clorox, etc.) werre located in the same building and werre free. We had a great time in Washington DC partially due to nice accommodations and hope you do too!

Great Location Excellent owner.

Larry was more than considerate.

We had no car, the taxi ride from the airport was around $25 for 5 people. Note regarding cabs.....Cabs all required cash.....after asking around we were able to find Yellow cab would take credit.

Only a couple blocks from the subway.

Great Neighborhood bars and restaurants, and compared to Central DC....Excellent price level.

Easy walk to grocery stores, and we left cloth bags for next guest to carry the groceries home in.

Larry was there to provide us with extension cords to keep things running when the electric went down to the house, which was due to the electric company, not the house.

Very pleasant visit, and again EXCELLENT location.

We went with 3 boys 11-13 years old, and everyone had a blast.

Clean, convenient

My family recently stayed at this property and found it clean, comfortable, and extremely convenient to everything we wanted to do and see in Washington. I had worried about staying so close to downtown, but I felt completely safe. A Metro station was just a 5-minute walk, as were lots of restaurants and cool shops. We cooked some of our meals, and were delighted to find a Harris Teeter grocery store was just a 10-minute walk. The kitchen was small but functional: the stove, fridge, dishwasher, and pots and pans were much nicer than what you would expect in a rental property. The owner was extremely courteous and professional. The only slightly awkward feature is that the seating for meals is a bar and barstools facing the kitchen, as there is no space for a regular dining table. The apartment building was very quiet; I did not hear any of our neighbors the entire time.

Great family vacation

We had a great time with our boys (10 and 12) at De Falco house.Larry did a wonderful job taking care of us, and the location was fantastic - 2 block walk to the stations, then 10 minutes or less by subway to all the tourist sites. The place was well equipped and exactly as advertised. We'd stay there again next time we visit.

PS - check out the happy hour upstairs at the Banana Cafe - a great local bar 1 block away.
