for couples needing a relaxing environment

We had a thoroughly enjoyable 8 nights here in October 2011. The property is exactly like the photographs and the descriptions are accurate. Roger and Cathy could not have been more helpful. Without being asked, they provided us with a scenic route from Montreal when I said that we wanted to meander our way through the countryside, and then provided us with another scenic route into Ottawa which avoided most of the traffic and got us right into the centre. This is an ideal place to stay if one needs/wants to visit Ottawa, though we spent a lot of time exploring the delightful small towns near to Richmond as we were fortunate with the weather. Richmond is an expanding small town with enough shopping facilities within walking distance of the cottage to provide all one's needs for the stay.
The cottage is quiet, clean and warm. It is not a sterile hotel environment but a home, which Cathy and Roger live in for some of the time and let for the rest. As such it is welcoming, appealing and comfortable. There are some family photographs and pictures but it is not overdone. A perfect place to relax. The river flows quietly at the bottom of the garden. We were lucky enough to see a muskrat which we don't see in our native Scotland and the garden has black squirrels running around in it, which we also don't have at home.
Cathy and Roger are available at the end of the phone for any problems and when we did have a problem with the TV they sorted it out for us without any fuss. As a couple we found we had plenty of space. The TV is in the downstairs bedroom which a larger family might find a bit confining, but there are two very comfortable reclining chairs in there and there is internet availability upstairs if one wanted to connect a laptop. For a couple the cottage is ideal and if we were in the area again we wouldn't hesitate to return.
Owner's Response: Once again, we loved the whole process of having Homeaway guests. From the first correspondence, to returning the deposit and wishing them well, it is always a delight to get to know people from other countries. Carol and Roger
