Several miles to the west is the romantic town of Haleiwa, former home to Baywatch Hawaii. Here you will find a variety of shops, restaurants, art stores, fishing charters, surfing supplies and lessons. Summers here are made for swimming, snorkeling, biking, kayaking, kite & windsurfing and just plain relaxing by the calm turquoise waters. Winter is another matter. Big storms up in Alaska send large open ocean swells 2000 miles across the Pacific Ocean where they eventually meet up the the coral reefs of the north shore. These waves reach great heights and surfers from around the world rise to the occasion to get the thrill only a surfer could know! There are many famous surf spots within a few miles of this home. Waimea bay, Velzyland and just steps to Banzai Pipe
