Thanks to Charlotte's very clear directions, getting to CloudForest from the village of Blowing Rock was quite easy. As we topped the stairs to our 2nd floor vacation retreat,we could see the extraordinary view of the mountains from the covered deck. The property was clean and well maintained and as described in the listing. The eclectic decor was fascinating and included a beautiful lighted stained-glass cabinet as well as other "surprises" that you do not notice at first. During the week we've been at CloudForest the day-time highs have ranged from the upper 50's to the lower 80's. We've experienced sunny days, rainy days and overcast days--we even had a wind advisory one morning. This means that we had the opportunity to enjoy the mountain view in a variety of conditions--all views were exquisite! On clear nights we could see the lights of Charlotte. Sunrise was always spectacular. We could also see the sunset through the trees at the back of the lodge. We were visited by a deer and a rabbit, both looking for breakfast. We also enjoyed the huge gas fireplace on cool days. We would recommend the Six Pence Pub, Storie Street Grille and The Village Cafe on Main Street and the Foggy Rock Cafe and Pub on Hwy 321. We do not recommend the Mi Carreta Grill on Hwy 321. We, too, enjoyed the Harris Teeter classic trail mix, but our very favorite foods were the rotisserie chicken salad and pimento cheese at Ingles. Both Harris Teeter (Hwy 321) and Ingles (Hwy 105) are located in nearby Boone and are well worth the short trip. The kitchen was fully equipped and the basics, including paper towels, were provided. Toiletries were also provided in the bathrooms. It was a pleasure to work with Charlotte. She even came up to greet us when we arrived and had beautiful pink and purple flowers in a planter on the deck to welcome us. We would recommend this property to adults who are looking for a place to relax that has an incredible mountain view. BTW-->be sure to take a walk around Bass Lake. If you look through the basket with all of the brochures, before you make your plans, notice whether or not what you are reading is current.
