House could be beautiful if it was taken care of. We stayed here during the Christmas holidays. The house is very nicely furnished but lots of issues. Lots of drywall damage, ant problems, lights that don't work, Towels was sparse for nine people. Eating utensils were also very sparse. Bbq grill was very small also. The location was beautiful and we did have a good time, but was very disappointed.
This is an impressive house, with a spectacular sunset view over the widest part of Boca Ciega Bay! It's also very conveniently located to 275 making it quick and easy to move around the area. It's about half way between downtown St. Petersburg and St. Pete Beach, so we were able to enjoy the best of both. Don't miss Marzano's Italian Market on N. 22nd Ave., worth the drive if you like to cook! We also enjoyed the proximity to Gulfport, an artsy, Old Florida waterfront town with a nice selection of restaurants to choose from. The house itself had plenty of space for our extended family of 9 people. It is not a good house for anyone with difficulty climbing steps. The owner was planning on doing some renovations, which were planned for the fall of 2013, and if done well, this could really elevate this from a nice house, needing some attention, to a fantastic property! There were some housekeeping issues which the owner was also concerned about and he has said that he has since hired a professional cleaning company, so those issues should be taken care of. The owner approved our making some purchases that were needed for the house, and after some missed communications due to a change of email address, he did follow up in reimbursing me for those items. You will absolutely enjoy staying at this home, I know we did! I'm looking forward to seeing the new pictures, post renovation!
We planned to spend New Years in Saint Petersburg and found this house - the pictures just looks amazing, almost to good to be true...but they where not. The place is just as awesome as it looks - maybe only let down was that we did not see any mannetees ;) but the dolphins swimming under our bridge made up for that BIG time :)
I can only recommend this place to everyone who wants to be directly on the water and are 8-10 people :)
Thank you John :)
What a wonderful place to stay. Abundance was all around. Abundant wildlife: daily dolphin visits near the dock, manatees quietly drifing by, rare birds flying towards the sunset. Abundant fishing: My husband caught fish in Floirda for the first time, right on the dock. My sons and friends caught fish as well. My youngest son caught a fish that weighed 20 pounds. He released him. Abundant food: My husband cooked in the beautiful kitchen. Abundant space: Everone had plenty of room to sleep and relax. Abundant views: Everywhere you were, you could see the water, it was breathtaking. Abundant peace: The only noise was the laughter and fun created by my family having a teriffic time. Above all, Abundant memories: The time spent here with my family will never be forgotten. My youngest child will now be off to college, so this vacation will always be cherished.
We searched for a long time to find a vacation house where we could have a small wedding. We were so happy to find this house with such a great view and with so much room inside and out. The owners showed us around the property before we signed the rental agreement which was very kind. They were very nice and gave lots of helpful suggestions. Upon our arrival the house seemed to be in great shape. Overall we ended up having a great (albeit busy!) week with the family- the pool was wonderful since it was so hot and the views of the sunset where breathtaking. We saw a dolphin and lots of fish jumping. We did have a couple of issues. We ended up having to hose down the area around the pool and do some cleaning around the place before the wedding. It wasn't horrible but it was dirty enough that we felt we had to clean it before we had a wedding there. We changed a bunch of lightbulbs. We also cleaned up a bunch of broken pool toys and junk that was in the storage room and garage so we would have more space for the wedding and so it wasn't just lying around. It wasn't anything major but there were a lot of little things that should already have been done and that took time away from wedding prep and spending time together. We did all of the cooking ourselves for the wedding and one of the things we did was plan on grilling several of the dishes. The second day we were there my husband's dad went to grill some steaks and discovered the grill was completely rusted through and would have been a fire hazard if it had been lit. We called the owner who agreed to let us buy a new one and told us we would be reimbursed the day we checked out. My husband's dad went out and got a grill which took him a couple hours to assemble. The day we checked out the housekeeper said the owner couldn't make it so could we leave the receipt for the grill and an address and he would send us a check. We have played phone tag and sent emails to the owner ever since but it is now it's a month and a half later and still haven't seen any money. It wasn't a huge expense (couple hundred bucks) but even still we took the time to go get something that was an amenity that was supposed to be included and took the time to assemble it. We could have just taken it home with us (since we live in the area) but went on good faith that we would be reimbursed. If it wasn't for this, we would have been happy to give the place 5 stars.
We are located on the waters of Boca Ciega Bay, with easy access to the Gulf of Mexico. We are approximately 5 minutes drive to the Gulf Beaches, 10 minutes to downtown St. Petersburg and The Pier, and 25 to 30 minutes to Tampa with it's 'International Plaza' and the International Airport. Grocery stores, banks etc are within 2 miles from the property and the nearest main major shopping center is Tyrone Mall. There is casual and fine dining very close and we have a large selection of Brochures, Maps, Restaurant information, etc at the house for you, along with games, books and DVDs. We are minutes away of the Pinellas hiking and biking trail, golf courses, marinas, museums, attractions, and all the major theme parks.
