Not exactly as pictured...but still loved it!

  • 4 of 5
We chose the Creekside Waterfalls Cabin because we were intrigued by it's footprint. We found the space surprisingly adequate. The setting was idyllic & the creek quite charming-though the main waterfall feature was damaged & the membrane torn, allowing water seepage through the earth instead of "over the falls"..causing silting in the creek & the pond looked unkempt. There were also a lot of broken tree limbs across creek. The flowerbeds were overgrown with grass & weeds, & needing tending. However the daffodils & phlox were charming. Yes, the house is close to the road, but we never found that to be an issue. There was hardly ever any traffic, maybe a car or truck every 10 minutes or more, & I rarely heard anything more than the creek or the birds so I was fully satisfied with the privacy. One of the footbridges over the creek had 3 rotten boards and one was cracked..(Those boards will need immediate attention) I loved the sweet front porch but totally would have preferred some rockers up there instead of bench. Inside house was cozy, sliding glass doors really opened the place up, as did the mirror effect which I thought was genius. Not hard to heat- warms up quick. We had a cold week there so didn't have to run A/C but once. The bed was THE most comfortable bed I've slept in for 30 years...I liked the darkness of the bedroom which made it peaceful. However- the sofa was terribly uncomfortable. Although it appeared clean and fairly new, it felt broken and collapsed in the middle. The hot tub was second only to the bed & such a great feature that I spent most lot of my time in it just hanging out and loving the woodsy setting. The grill was nice, we used the fire pit but there was no where to sit...designated chairs or benches would have been nice. All in all- I have to admit we fell in love and I almost teared up upon leaving...it felt more like home than my own did upon return. I am missing it still. I have a few small issues like the water (which was well water- I wish that they'd get a filter and softener) & the window over the sink seemed very dirty as did the one in the LR/ but again let me say we'd stay here for a month if we could...I will rent again and I will likely try to retire near here. It's a beautiful setting, a cozy house and a little attention in the yard, a new couch and repairing the pond & footbridge would be my recommendations. Thanks for the memories!

Over charged and by a noisy road

  • 1 of 5
My husband and I spent three night and thank goodness we did have another one. For two people there was three washcloths and three bath towels, don't know what the other person was to use! The king size bed was very, very uncomfortable!
The extra blanket was dirty. The sofa was broken down and very uncomfortable. The blinds for the kitchen and living room were a messed up bunch of blinds. The pictures on the website are VERY misleading. Your only maybe 40ft from a very busy road and you hear ALL road noise inside. For the price we paid in full up front.. We were VERY,VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!!

Owner's Response: I am so very sorry that these folks didn't enjoy their stay. I will say that there were more towels and wash cloths as they indicated. There are 4-6 towels and they are located under the sink because there's no place to hang more than 3. This is the very 1st complaint that I had on the bed. It has a memory foam top on it and I'm sure that this bed is going to please everyone that rents this cabin. Some people like their beds very firm and some likes them very soft. I would say that this bed is in the middle of being very firm and very soft. The extra blanket that was there was not dirty when they checked in. They must have let their dog sleep on it because when the housekeeper went to shake it out, a lot of dog hair was on it plus it had dirty paw prints all over it. The vertical blinds in the living room and the kitchen are missing a few panels, but nothing major. The website does say that this cabin sits next to a state maintained road and it has very easy access. The road is a secondary road with local traffic. I have not hidden anything about this cabin. Hundreds of folks have stayed at this cabin (some of them many times) the majority of them have not complained once. Everything is explained on my website about the cabin. These folks also wrote a note and left it at the cabin saying that they could not operate the coffee pot. The simple coffee pot is brand new from Wal-Mart and I didn't think it was that difficult to operate. I really am sorry that these folks were not happy. If they would come back, I would give them a great deal.

GOOD LITTLE CABIN FOR MY FAMILY OF FOUR!

  • 4 of 5
I had a great time with my wife, my 8 year old son, and 3 year old daughter. The cabin had everything I need and a had a nice trail in the back which my kids enjoy. Small but quite and close to everything.
