General information::
The villa is situated in an unspoilt area of Spain. There are no high rise buildings and many spacious beaches. The coastline is incredibly attractive, being backed by mountains and beautiful scenery. Mojacar, a Moorish town, is on a hill overlooking the coast and is a delight to explore. Within easy driving distance is the historic city of Almeria with its Alcazaba and cathedral. The Cabo de Gata Natural Park is not far and children will love mini Hollywood which is at nearby Tabernas. Wonderfully colourful local markets add to the attraction. Nearby amenities::
The village of Turre is 5 minutes away by car, and the supermarket is a real Aladdin's cave and sells almost everything. There are also hairdressers, a chemist, butchers, bakers and two banks. Most banks have an automatic cash machine. There are several typically Spanish bars and restaurants. Many of the restaurants are full of locals serving real Spanish food. There are many more shops, including clothes boutiques, and restaurants at Mojacar Playa. Please note distances to airports: Almeria (50 mins), Murcia (1 hour 50 mins) Alicante (2 hours), Malaga (3.5 hours).
Activities::
We are situated in the mountains, in an area good for walking, and trekking by horse or mountain bike, both for hire locally. There is a 3.5 Euros charge per person per day for the use of the swimming pool or 20 Euros per week per person. The swimming pool is not open during the colder months. There is a 9 hole golf course nearby. The fee is approx 25 Euros and clubs can be hired. Granada, one of the greatest cities in the Moorish world, is only 2.5 hours drive away. The beaches of Mojacar are excellent sandy beaches which stretch for miles along the coast. You will find a water park nearby and the Cabo de Gata, is a large natural reserved area, with coves, beaches and lovely scenery.
Golf:
There is a 9 hole golf course opposite the villa, where you can play any day except Wednesdays and Sundays, when there are competitions. To play in these, you must show a handicap certificate. The green fee is approx 25 Euros and the clubhouse is at the Almazora bar. Clubs can be hired.
