I enjoy my guests and want to make your stay a very special one. I grew up in Iowa in a small town and now I Live in Golden not far from the property. I was a small town girl and now I am raising alpacas, driving my John Deer and trying to be a country girl. I love the Colorado foothills and love the log home you will be staying in for your special events.
Jeri Mickels purchased this lodge in 2000
It is a Bearry Special Place!
The log home is close in and yet in the foothills to the Rocky Mountains. Easy access to everything and not in the hubbub of the city.
Everything about our stay in this spectacular log home was fantastic. There are so many "extras" that you rarely find in a vacation rental. We had our family Christmas there, and could not have been more pleased. Plenty of room, even the one day we were snowed in; comfortable bedrooms and a great kitchen equipped with everything a cook could possibly need. We honestly didn't want to leave. The property is in easy proximity to skiing, downtown Denver, and Blackhawk/Central City, but most of us preferred to sit by the fire and just relax! Some hardy souls took out the sleds and discs and whizzed down to the barn, where the alpacas looked on intently. It was one of the best family gatherings we've ever had, and we would absolutely recommend this property to others. Jeri was the perfect host!
We gathered with family from other parts of the country, and were a span of ages from 68 to 18 months. Everything we needed was available - it was like being in our own home. We had 7 children who greatly enjoyed the interaction with the alpacas. The elk herd made an appearance also to everyone's delight. There were outdoor toys, as well as board and card games. The beds were comfortable and there was enough space for every activity - including quiet time to read some of the interesting books displayed in the sitting room. When we mentioned our plan to grill, the owner made certain that we wouldn't run out of propane. We couldn't have asked for a more pleasant or helpful host. We greatly enjoyed this visit to Colorado!
The Log House was perfect for our family Christmas celebration. There was room for all of us, three generations, gathered from all over the country. Everything for cooking and entertainment is supplied. The house was decorated for Christmas with the young children in mind. We all felt at home. The house is well situated and convenient to everything. We would definitely come back.
OUR STAY WAS BEAUTIFUL AT THE END OF AUGUST. ELK CAME IN EVERY NIGHT AND IN THE MORNING ON THE LAWN. DEER OUT THE KITCHEN WINDOW. VERY PRIVATE. WE ENJOYED MANY EVENINGS AND AFTERNOONS OUT ON THE HUGE FRONT DECK. SLEPT WITH THE WINDOWS OPEN.THE HOME HAS ALOT OF PERSONALITY, AND IS CLOSE ENOUGH TO SHOPPING AND RESTAURANTS, YET HAS A SECLUDED COUNTRY FEEL TO IT. THE OWNER WAS VERY FRIENDLY AN EASY TO WORK WITH. WE WOULD DEFINITELY STAY HERE AGAIN. WE DID NOT WANT TO LEAVE!
Owner Jerry was so helpful and accommodating after last minute frenzy of wedding plan changes from floods. We had 4 couples and had a great time for 3 nights. Great log home with nice amenities. Clean, and very pleasant. Would recommend and come again!
We stayed here for a week for a family reunion and was overjoyed with the accommodations. The cabin was equipped with everything we could have wanted and more. There was plenty of room to gather together as a family as well as spend some time separately. The decorations throughout the home were very interesting (we probably missed a lot as there was so much to see).
Jeri was very helpful and even took the younger kids to see the alpacas which they enjoyed very much.
Everyone in the family agreed that this was a delightful place to spend our vacation and the closeness to Denver made day trips easy to do.
We highly recommend this place for people staying in the Denver area.
