French doors open to the screened porch with unobstructed views of Crystal Lake and the sea. The windows throughout enjoy wonderful water views and cool ocean breezes. Situated on a quiet, little-traveled lane beside Crystal Lake, East Chop, the yard and surroundings are perfect for playing children and tranquil for adults! The area is a jogger's/walker's dream! Despite the peaceful location, this home is within a short biking or walking distance of a salt water beach and Oak Bluffs with its harbor, numerous shops and restaurants and the famous Flying Horses Carousel.

It is a peninsula surrounded on the North and East by Vineyard Sound and on the West by Vineyard Haven Harbor, and features the high, prominent bluffs that give the near-by town, Oak Bluffs, its name. A lighthouse, East Chop Light, stands at the north end of the chop on Telegraph Hill.

More on the house and island: This is a family- and kid-friendly home. Five generations of the same family have enjoyed this home and property! You can arrive, unpack your suitcases and start enjoying your vacation immediately - the house is well-equipped and comfortable. From the house, you can easily walk or ride your bike to Oak Bluffs, through quiet, neighborhood streets and lanes. Vineyard Haven is about 2 miles away. The nearest salt water swimming beach is on East Chop and less than a mile from the house - you can bike or walk there easily. Another wonderful swimming beach is about 1.5 miles in the direction of Vineyard Haven. Remember, Martha's Vineyard is an island (reached by air or ferry) and nothing is very far away. This island has something for everyone: 5 unique island villages, wonderful calm-water sandy beaches, surf beaches, golf, tennis, hiking trails, biking, fishing, theater, old-style farmers' and flea markets, and unique shops of every description. Enjoy a corner of paradise!

We really enjoyed our stay. We have stayed in various locations on the Vineyard, but this house really feels like a family home. It is very comfortable, well planned and thoughtfully stocked with the basics. The location is very convenient, yet enough out of the way of traffic where children can play and ride their bikes. The view of the lake and the ocean is also very relaxing. I can see how it would be very nice to spend summers with children at this house.
