Additional information about rental rates

  • Free touch-up cleaning (2 hours) for bookings two weeks or more.
  • Electric:
    A basic amount of electric is included in the rental rate (100kWh/booked night).
    Our experience shows that the amount of used electric for this house, depending on the usage of the heater/air conditioner, freezers and other appliances varies between 50kWh and 150kWh/day.
    The meter will be read when you arrive at the house and when you leave the house after your vacation. We deduct 1 Kilowatt-hour per booked night form the total of used electric which may be used from our own equipment.
    In case you've used more than the included amount of electric, we'll easily deduct the additional amount from your security/damage deposit.
    Electric rate per additional used kWh: 0.12 USD.
    Monthly rental rates do NOT include electric.

    Security/Damage deposit:
    $ 300 security/damage deposit. For bookings more than two weeks, an additional $100 security/damage deposit will be added.

    Pets considered, but pet fee will apply. Please contact for further details.
  • Monthly rentals:
    2 Month minimum stay for the low monthly rate.

The washing machine and laundry dryer is not located in the kitchen. Both are in the laundry room besides the kitchen. Area information and local attractions: The Canyon Lake and the Canyon Lake area gives you lots of local activities. Sure, the closest attraction is the lake itself. For your own boat you'll find a public boat ramp withing a few minute drive. This boat ramp is one of the best ones around the lake. Even if the lake-level goes low this ramp will still be open while other ramps are long closes. If you don't bring your own boat, you can rent a wide variety of different Boats or Waverunners at the Canyon Lake Marina or other rental places. Also very close is the Guadalupe river, which will give you vary nice and famous tubing and rafting tours combined with a nice landscape.

Guene, a small town close to New Braunfels an an attractive place for visitors and always well frequented. Not only families like to spend a day there, even bikers are very welcome in Gruene. Gruene offers you different restaurants, shops and the famous Gruene dance hall, well known for their good live music. The Schlitterbahn, one of the worlds largest water parks is located in New Braunfels. There are tons of other attractions like the Alamo in San Antonio or big outlet malls in San Marcos. You're right in a quiet middle, but not too far away from everywhere. No matter where you go: You can enjoy scenic drives or just take one of the nearby located major Highways to get to your destination fast.

Howdy! After being "UpOn the Hill" I know I will rent it again & would not want another that didn't have a pool. It was very nice, all the way around & everything was just as it was advertized. With 3 couples, it was a little awkard having the bedroom in the living area, but we didn't spend much time sleeping so it worked out. (More of a hassle with the clothes/luggage, etc. We spent some time on the lake but having the pool was really A+ for everybody. I know y'all will enjoy!!!

Very desirable lake view retreat

Wow, this property was everything it said it would be and more. We've rented houses in several states and locations with varying amenities from Georgia to Hawaii. The property is very comfortable inside and out and takes one back to a simpler, quiet way of living away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The shag carpet in the bedroom and stepdown into the living room is very 70's in style which we liked. We enjoyed seeing deer passing by in the morning and late afternoon. The yard was perfect for our two Wire Fox Terriers who also appreciated the independence afforded by dog doors. We also took them on walks around the area and felt very safe. We are gourmet cooks and were disappointed that the kitchen was very adequate, but not as well equipped as some places we've stayed. But most people avoid cooking on vacation. We suggest bringing food or shopping at a market in Gruene or New Braunfels before going to the house as markets and restaurants are not readily available closeby. From this home away from home we toured San Antonio and other Hill Country locations like the Nimitz Museum in Fredericksburg, the LBJ ranch and Luckenbach. Gruene and New Braunfels offered great shopping and tubing on the river. I highly recommend the Haus on the Hill as a good central location for the area attractions and a place to just relax and enjoy a peaceful ambiance. The kitchen table is a great place for the girls to play bridge or a family to play games. The swing facing the lake view was a perfect spot for morning devotions and reading. We are definitely going back. The owner is very attentive to his customers needs and the housekeeper is always available if needed. The entire property was very clean and well maintained.

Thanks a lot for this nice vacation! There are cheaper rentals available, but this house was worth every single cent. Very professional processing of the booking, extreme friendly and professional service for check-in and check-out. Very nice and well equipped place – It felt like home from the first minute on. And last but not least: The house was clean and shiny upon arrival.

Friendly and nice

Very friendly and helpful owner. We cold always get in touch with him, even if he lives far away in Germany. He's using a company and local people for opening up the house and other services. When we arrived, a friendly man showed us all necessarily details within the house and the property. As an addition we enjoyed a daily maid service in the morning. This wasn't cheap but a great and well worth addition to our vacation.
The property is big and we could use the carport to park our boat away from the sun.
We're looking forward to come back.
