This photo is of me (Patricia) with my family boating! We love to get outdoors and we will do just about anything.
We all love Washington DC! There is so much to do and as a Washingtonian we just forget how much of it is FREE! There are so many things to do here, it's just impossible to see them all. My favorite is the Hope Diamond located at the Natural History Museum located down on the mall. The Air and Space Museum are probably #1 for the men and boys, but the films are really great and to fly really makes you feel like you are flying.
I have lived in and out of Washington DC my entire life with my father's navy career bringing us back and forth. My mother is buried in Arlington Cemetery.
The White House is within 15 minutes, Mclean has some of the best schools in the country and I have always felt blessed to have found this home.
The front photo of the home is deceiving - the home is really long. This home is a gem with a hidden backyard located within blocks of the grocery, drug store and Starbucks to walk to.
We are within a block of the closest bus stop leading directly to the Arlington metro and an 8 minute ride from the W. Falls Church Metro.
There are many wonderful restaurants within 10 minutes of the house, big movie cinemas and an awesome tot lot 2 miles away for the little ones.
I have been happy to host people during our most recent inauguration, wedding parties from all over the world and families that just come to vacation and enjoy all Washington DC has to offer.
I really enjoy sharing this property with others and I enjoy staying here myself from time to time. This home was featured in the Washington Post and was picked and moved to this lot from around the block and saved rather than torn down.
It's a really fun place to stay and visit Washington DC.
I enjoy being a 15-20 minute drive to most places in Washington DC that people really want to visit. I love being able to get up in the morning before anyone else and walk to Starbucks for my first cup of coffee.
The backyard is almost completely fenced in. It's surrounded by large mature trees and you really get a sense of peace back there. It's wonderful to sit with a cup of tea and just watch the birds at the bird feeder. We see all kinds including cardinals and blue jays.
I like to drive down the Washington Parkway into Washington DC. The parkway is surrounded by mature trees, the views of DC are spectacular and I will go out of my way to drive along this parkway. It can be followed south all the way to Mount Vernon - George Washington's home along the Potomac.
Going across Chain Bridge into Washington DC has my favorite view of the Potomac. There are houses on top of the Virginia side of the bridge many of which are very stately. On the Washington DC side there are wetlands and you can always see a large variety of birds.
I love the family room with the views of the backyard. I love to sit in the upstairs Jacuzzi with a glass of wine, watch TV, or look in the backyard and unwind.
I love the stained trim around all the windows and doors and the old fashioned kitchen with modern appliances.
The wisteria off the kitchen is spectacular in April/May and there are always different flowers blooming in the yard.
I have big holly trees along the house that look pretty at Christmas and tons of daffodils that come up in the spring.
I am glad I don't ever have to worry about my son running around in McLean - it's a really safe neighborhood.
It's a GREAT place to visit!
Sitting in the backyard to unwind and relax is just wonderful. Grab a cup of coffee to wake up, watch the birds and if you need something else the grocery store is just around the block.
If you need to get out for a walk, there are many directions to head in:
For food lovers try Balducci's on Old Dominion - Really wonderful food including, veggies, meat, bistro meals to go. Just a fun place to go for very high end food!
Walk north and you can go to the grocery store, restaurants, drug store or Starbucks.
There is a unbelievable tot lot located about 10 minutes from the house on Georgetown Pike. See my map to see where it is. There is also a playground right across the street at the Church.
You can also sit out front on the steps leading to the house just to people watch. McLean is a big walking neighborhood and many people walk into the shops daily.
This home is right in a suburban neighborhood, but has access to many amenities such as the Raquet Club within 200 feet of the home. The massage's are a wonderful way to relax.
The White House and Nation's Capitol offer so many things it is just not possible to list them all. But you can get to the area activities easily, because there is a bus stop directly across the street and will take you to the metro - from there you can go anywhere!
Please come see my own website and look under things to do for more links of where to go and what to see while you are here.
The National Arboretum has an awesome pond filled with fish to feed and 200 year old bonsai's.
The Mall next to the Capitol Building has the Air and Space Museum, The Natural History Museum (my favorite is the Hope Diamond!), The National Gallery of Art, etc.....
Union Station is an amazing beautiful place to shop, eat and see people coming and going.
The National Cathedral has 360 degree views from the top and many people miss this. The place is just amazing to see.
Old Ebbitt Grill very close to the White House has excellent Chile and is one of my favorites for a fancy dinne
