Beautiful gardens, tidal waterfront, quiet, only 5 minutes to beach!

For the past 5 years I have rented from HomeAway. The previous 4 years were great, but this year was a disaster!! First, this place is DEFINATELY NOT quiet. Cider Hill Road sounds very serene, however it is also Rt. 91 a major road with heavy truck, motorcycle and car traffic 24/7. After sending in the final payment I waited almost 3 weeks for a confirmation which never came; this after several phone calls. Was also waiting for instructions on getting into the house and directions. Finally, 2 days before I was to leave directions and instructions came via e.mail with a P.S. that the check had been received. I was instructed to call about 1 hour before arrival. After driving almost 6 hours I was told there was a problem with the cleaning people and I should go shopping. I arrived at the house about 1 1/2 hours later and was let in by the owner. She gave me the keys, a tour and left. After unpacking I discovered there was a load of towels in the washer to be dried and put away, a load in the dryer to be put away, old food in the refrigerator which had to be thrown away, the dishwasher was full of dirty dishes, the kitchen trash was full. I had to basically clean the place before I felt comfortable using anything. When I went to use the shower in the master bath discovered it smelled terrible with black mold all over the shower curtain and along the floor and walls; it took 3 days of spraying with vinegar and water to get the worst out. By the end of the first week the microwave stopped working. I notified the owner by phone, but never heard back. After I left and notified her of all the above, requesting a return of the cleaning fee I paid she informed me that someone had taken a panel off the microwave. This WAS NOT done by myself or anyone at the house.
As far as a great place for small children, again it DEFINITELY is not! The front steps end about 4 feet from Rt. 91 and the yard is not great for kids to play. The gorgeous gardens are overgrown with weeds, some of the railings are in dire need of repair. I could go on, however, I think enough said. All in all I would rate this place minus one star. For the price I paid it was a MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT!!
