Located just 15 minutes from historic Middleburg, Virginia, this cottage retreat on 8 acres of property is perfect for anyone who loves the outdoors and enjoys real privacy.

Turn Key: We provide all fresh linens and towels, paper & plastic goods, spices, condiments, kitchen ware, etc.

THERE'S NO NEED TO OVERPACK!

Feel free to use the washer/dryer. Your getaway should be carefree!

You'll truly escape. Blue herons, bald eagles, owls, wild turkeys, jays and cardinals call The Riverhouse home too.

Don't let the dirt road fool you, this is a private, gated community and the home sits far back on a secluded lane.

Just over an hour from D.C./ 45 minutes from Dulles Airport.

Enjoy our community's beautiful swimming pool during summertime, but you may be all alone, as the few locals who live here tend to favor the river.

We can breathe here! No traffic, no neighbors and a world away from DC.

We bought this 2nd home for our family and children. We're now putting 3 through college!

What makes this house unique

The cottage is also 20 minute drive to the Appalachian Trail. A hiking paradise!

Middleburg offers great boutique shopping. From fine clothing & jewelry, to fancy toiletries, gourmet meats and take-home meal, visit this lovely town on the way to some of the wineries. There's even a special store for the furry member of your family.

Berryville is a step back in time. Grab an ice cream cone or a latte.

What a beautiful place! We arrived in the early afternoon for a quick getaway. Pulling up to the house was a great surprise, the pictures don't do it justice. The home was warm and inviting, didn't feel like a sterile hotel. The view was amazing, the house is right up to the river. The rooms are big and they had everything we needed. The owners made it all so easy. They provided us with all the information and directions. It was one of the most relaxing weekends we've had in a very long time. Can't wait to go back. We'll be booking a longer stay soon!

Gorgeous Summer Hideaway

The owner of this house is wonderful to work with, easy to reach and always accommodating. The house felt like home away from home, but hidden in the woods right on the river. It's nicely decorated, clean and cozy. My husband, two sons (2 and 4), in-laws and our Boston Terrier had a wonderful week swimming, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, sightseeing (Skyline Drive), wine-tasting, berry-picking, and relaxing here. We'll definitely be back!

We WILL be back again!!!!!

The Riverhouse on the Shenandoah is having another blockbuster summer.
The 2012 calendar booked solid in June...and ony a few weeks are available in July & August. September is fully booked and the Fall leaf-peepers are starting to inquire earlier too!

We want to thank our repeat guests who've told us this fabulous, little home has become a 'best kept secret'. We are now adding a beautiful, full bathroom to our newly renovated Master suite addition.
