Spring and Summer will give you the warm mountain days and cool mountain nights. A great escape from the city. Hike directly to National Forest out the back door and through the valleys and hills. Moose and deer will most likely be a part of your experience.

This one of a kind property on 5 acres, offers something for everyone who loves the mountains and those of you on your first experience. If you have horses, we have 3 separate pastures and 2 loafing sheds for the horse enthusiast, all bordering National Forest makes this truly a mountain paradise. This is a horse lovers, fishermens, hikers and mountain bikers, snowshoeers and XX skiing dream vacation home. Recently remodeled and beautifully maintained, the home has a wrap around deck from which you can listen to the water rippling along the 330 feet of Lone Pine Creek that runs through the property; Crystal Lakes has many fishing lakes (fishing passes required and can be purchased at Crystal Lakes office see the description below) or take your horses down for a drink of the cold, clear mountain water. Relax in the hot tub on the deck and enjoy the magnificent view during the day or the night sky shimmering above you after a day of riding, hiking or biking in the National Forest. You can access National Forest directly from the property and go for hundreds of miles. Please know there is no hunting or shooting from our property.

Inside the house you can relax in front of a roaring fire in the magnificent Fireplace Extraordinaire as you sip your favorite beverage while lounging on the soft leather furniture. The great room that houses the fireplace has a ceiling fan that keeps the warm air flowing and a Dish Network satellite TV. Incredible views of the beautiful outdoors accompany you throughout every room.

The dining area is adjacent to the great room and next to the newly remodeled kitchen that has granite counter tops, all new cabinetry, an electric range and refrigerator with ice maker, dishwasher, microwave and great utensils if you like to cook.

When you, too, are ready for a restful night, make your way to the master bedroom on the main floor or to the 2nd bedroom on the upper level. This level has a loft overlooking the great room and allowing the warmth and aroma of the fire to follow you. The 3rd bedroom has a large day bed that turns into a king size bed or two single beds. A double futon is in the playroom on the main level. We can accommodate up to 8 people. The house has baseboard heat for chilly nights that don't warrant a fire in the fireplace. But the fireplace can heat the entire home if you like.

Dogs and Horses are an additional day charge.

About Mary Cook

Bill and Mary Cook welcome you to Creekside Corral. We know you will enjoy your stay and we are delighted to be able to share our home with you. We know the amenities we offer will be appreciated, that you will feel totally at home and we do promise you a fabulous vacation! Mountain living at its best!

Mary Cook purchased this house in 2002

Why Mary Cook chose Red Feather Lakes

We fell in love with this property as soon as we drove in the driveway in July, 2002 and made an offer that same day. The view of the lake directly from the property and the access to national forest to the east and south made it feel liked we owned the valley. Fabulous fishing in the private lakes, hiking in our valley and the national forest that is adjacent to our property, mountain biking, cross crountry skiing and snowshoeing are just a few of the reasons that Creekside Corral is so special.

What makes this house unique

Bring your dog or your horses -- an amenity that is special to our home. The hot tub on the deck provides wonderful views of the lake and the valley on the other side provides great views and beautiful hikes and mountain biking at its best. Summer is perfect for all your personal outside enjoyment. Come for the Holidays as our home is very festively decorated.

Beaver Meadows Resort is five minutes away as is Base Camp at Crystal Lakes, both provide restaurants and other amenities for the vacationer. The Town of Red Feather has grocery stores, a hardware store, library and restaurants as well as some fun shops. WiFi is available at most restaurants. The treasures of the mountains are endless.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Tried to fish but too much snow blowing and wind. Enjoyed a much needed relaxing weekend. Can't think of anything this weekend or house didn't provide that I was wanting or needing. Thank you.

Wonderful Thanksgiving

  • 5 of 5
We went up for a week over Thanksgiving, and another couple and their dog met us up there for the second half. The place was very quiet and secluded - and Dorian (the dog) loved it, felt instantly at home. There are a few other houses visible from the property, but they are quite far away so it still feels very private. It would have been excellent for snowshoeing if there had been more snow! As it was, the hiking was wonderful.

We got to see a moose and her calf on one early morning walk (well…those of us who were up got to see it! The lay-abeds enjoyed their cozy sleeping in time). The mud room off the kitchen was very convenient for keeping our extra supplies nearby, but out of the way. The fireplace is wonderful, and plenty of wood was stocked and available for us to use. The hot tub was also great - though it was pretty windy and cold while we were up there so we didn't get to use it as much as we would have liked.

There is wireless internet for those of us who can't avoid checking in at work now and then. It's a bit slow (which I would expect for the area), but it gets the job done.

In the winter, at least, I'd highly recommend arriving in the daylight. It was snowing and overcast when we drove in, with snow-packed roads, which made it a little difficult to see where things were. When our friends arrived a few days later it was bright and sunny, and they had no problems at all.

We travel with friends quite a bit, and one thing we really liked about the place is that the upstairs and downstairs bedrooms were identical (no trying to figure out who gets the opulent master suite, while one couple gets stuck with the dingy second bedroom).

We had a wonderful time. I'd love to return in the fall sometime, so we could spend some time out on the deck without being too cold.

Excellent property

  • 5 of 5
We have rented many VRBO properties through the years and this one had the most usable kitchen of any we have stayed at. Usually we find a few cheap plastic spatulas and spoons and a couple of small teflon pans from the 90's. This place was filled with almost anything you could think of; whisks, sharp knives, pans of all shapes and sizes, a quality coffee maker, food processor, hand mixer and more. The home was super clean when we arrived. The living room was large and comfy and, while there were only two of us, we could imagine being there with a large group, building a nice fire in the fireplace and having a ton of fun. The main floor master was nice, especially if you have someone in your group who can't manage stairs. The deck has a large dining table and other seating for hanging out. There were a few other homes in the distance, but far enough away that you still felt private. The hot tub was lovely at night.
One caveat, there is some work being done on the dam not far from the property. If you have very delicate senses that may feel assaulted by the beep beep beep and engine noise from the construction vehicles, you may want to wait until the work is completed. For us, though, the hypnotizing views made it almost unnoticeable and you could not hear the noise in the house with the doors closed. The work ceased in the late afternoon and on Sunday.
Thanks for a wonderful stay.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for the wonderful review. We strive to make Creekside a special experience for our guests. Since I love to cook, I love to share a well stocked kitchen. We think Creekside provides a wonderful mountain experience both inside and out...so glad you enjoyed the hot tub and deck. You couldn't have had a better weekend this time of year!!! Please come and visit again. We offer a 10% discount on return customers and there is never a bad time at Creekside. That dam work you mentioned will provide a lake 3 times the original size with a lake view that will be breathtaking. Thank you again for staying with us. Mary and Bill Cook

This property was perfect for our family: kids, adults, dogs all loved the seclusion and roomy house. A perfect holiday home and the moose and her calf did visit.

Owner's Response: We are so glad that you were able to celebrate your family Christmas at Creekside. Having Christmas in the mountains is a special experience and we we do our best to provide that for our guests and of course their pets. We wish we could take credit for the moose and her calf but that was her present to you all. Such fun when that happens. Sometimes the moose may decide to sun themselves in the yard for hours. Thank you so much for the wonderful review and we hope that you return to visit us again. Creekside Corral is a special destination in the Spring/Summer and Fall as well. Please come again. Amazing!

  • 5 of 5
What a property! We could not have asked for a more beautiful property in a more beautiful location. Even our dog, Rosie, loved it! I really hesitate writing this because I want to keep this "secret" to ourselves. Once everyone else finds out, we will never be able to rent it again - something we plan on doing many more times!

Magical Thanksgiving Holiday

  • 5 of 5
What a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday stay we had. The home was clean, warm and welcoming! The hot tub was an added bonus and was used quite a bit! We went on a 4 hour hiking adventure taking in the scenic mountains, streams and meadows. Our german shepherd was in heaven as well. Both Mary & Barb were a pleasure to work with. Let's just say that we were already talking about coming back very soon and we had not even left yet! It's a wonderful property and will be even more gorgeous when the lake project has been completed.

Outstanding stay for my daughters wedding

  • 5 of 5
Mary and Barb were great to work with. The home was better than expected, clean, spacious, beautiful, warm and relaxing. Quite the surprise to see a Hot Tub on the deck, missed that in the description, but made for wonderful nights in the cold moutnain air. Hiked the property and enjoyed the stay, saw 2 cow moose and one yearling. And the fireplace inside kept us warm and cozy. We will be back in the summer with horses.
