With hundreds of miles of forest and mountain trails to walk, bike, backpack, run, or ride, you can bop ‘til you drop around Leavenworth. Trails vary in length and difficulty so contact the Leavenworth Ranger District (509-548-6977), Lake Wenatchee Ranger District (509-763-3103), Forest Service’s Recreation Report, The surrounding mountains, forests, rivers and streams are truly an outdoor enthusiast's paradise. How many times must we say 'we have it all!'
FISHING & HUNTING
Even for local residents, it takes decades to fish all the rivers, streams, and high-mountain lakes within a 20-mile radius of Leavenworth. So if fishing is your passion, we can provide you with the latest fishing guide and choose your fishing poison—fly fishing along the Icicle River, drifting for salmon, bait fishing on the Wenatchee River, trolling on Lake Wenatchee or Fish Lake, or casting lures into a high mountain lake. Elk, deer, bear, even cougar and so many different fowl abound in nearly every direction. You might be tempted to take one from the deck of the lodge, but don't! Seriously, many guests use the lodge every year as their base camp to go hunting. But remember: safety always comes first.
WINERY TOURS & TASTING
No less than 14 wineries are located within minutes of the lodge. All have tours and wine tasting rooms to titillate your palate. Washington's reputation for producing extremely fine wines is growing by leaps and bounds. Merry Canyon Lodge is located near the center of one of the very best local areas. But don't take our word for it, take the tours and taste for yourself.
SLEIGH RIDES
Sleigh bells ring, are you listening? In the air, snow is glistening. A beautiful sight, we're happy tonight..riding a sleigh in a winter wonderland. Snuggle under a warm blanket and travel over the river and through the woods surrounded by snow capped trees and breathtaking scenery. After your ride enjoy a cup of hot chocolate as your visit with friends.
MUSEUMS & ANTIQUES
There are a number of interesting museums in the area that reveal the rich history of this area's past. From the native Americans and pioneer days through the early logging to how Leavenworth transformed itself into wonderland of Bavarian culture. You'll find it all. For antique buffs, there are shops a short ways down the road to Cashmere where you'll find literally acres of antiques to explore. While you're there might as well taken in a tour of the home of the world famous Applets & Cotlets candy factory with free samples!
