In 1927 Arthur Young, founder of the international accounting firm of the same name, purchased the home. By this time Aiken was a well-known destination for international sporting enthusiasts and as the home of the storied Winter Colony. It has been reported that Arthur Young purchased the Crossways for $40,000 and spent $35,000 remodeling it. In 1948, Arthur Young died at Crossways and was buried in Bethany cemetery.
