Monarch Four Seasons Chalet is the get-away for our family of 5 from Texas! We love the historic mining town of Garfield, CO (also known as Monarch) and we love the year around activities of the San Isabel National Forest that surrounds it. Monarch Mountain Ski Area is only 3 miles away but in addition to skiing, the winter offers snowmobiling and snowshoeing. Summers are filled with mountain biking the Monarch Crest Trail (rated one of the top ten mountain bike trails in the nation), hiking to pristine mountain lakes right from our front door, whitewater rafting in the Arkansas River, panning for gold or rock-hounding at nearby sites. Walk to the Monarch Mountain Lodge for a great meal or a soak in the hot tub ($4/day).

Our family is very active year-round in Texas, but we love spending ski vacations, and summers in Monarch! There is so much to do and we keep finding out more!
Caroline Mann purchased this house in 2008
We bought in Monarch for the ease of getting to Monarch Ski Resort but we quickly discovered all the wonderful activities during the summer as well.
Cooking all our own meals at the house makes traveling with kids so much simpler. We just stop at the grocery store on our way, then just sit back and enjoy the fun!
Thank you for sharing your cabin. We had a wonderful time. "The best Christmas ever." Looking forward to staying again. We love this place. God bless your family!
Great little cabin...even tho there were 10 of us in the house...did not feel cramped at all. And you can't beat the proximity to Monarch Ski. AND it was nice enough to enjoy a beer on the upper deck and take in the stunning views!!
We had 7 people stay in the cabin and we had a great time. The house accommodations were great. The weather was perfect and the skiing was amazing. We had 3 kids upstairs in the top beds and they loved that area. Thanks for a great weekend.
The owner was so nice and helpful throughout the entire process. We loved the cozy home and close location to the slopes.
We had a great time! The location of the cabin was perfect for skiing at Monarch. The cabin was very cozy and had everything we needed. Spent the evenings playing games that are in cabin. Just perfect for our group of 5 adults! Looking forward to going back for sisters getaway.
This was a perfect place to stay close to the slopes of Monarch mountain. It is one of the highest ski slopes in Colorado so some of the best snow around. Slower older lifts and a lodge that harkens back to the 80's but very few lines and a lot of good beginner to intermediate slopes. A frame was absolutely wonderful with the only criticism being the ultra-slow wifi connection. Basically, no internet connectivity and no cell phone coverage.
Our stay was wonderful. We found many adventures to get ourselves into. My children have asked, numerous times, when we will be able to go back and explore some more.
Skiing is only one activity in the area. Summers are a constant buzz of activity including horseback riding, whitewater rafting, hiking, mountain climbing, rock hounding, relaxing in a hot springs, bicycle riding, mountain bike riding and strolling the quiet streets of Salida to view local artists and eat local meals.
