Wonderful Stay

  • 5 of 5
I stayed at the property during the IFFF Fly Fishing Fair. The Hosts could not have been more gracious. The property was beautiful and well maintained. I helped teach a fly fishing workshop and we ended up fishing a couple of hundred yards from the cabin. I highly recommend this property to anyone wanting to fish the Yellowstone or the nearby spring creeks.

Wonderful Location, Wonderful facility, the perfect place!

  • 5 of 5
I spent a week at the River House and it is truly a paradise valley paradise.

The house has a great kitchen and we found ourselves spending many hours on the patio around a large table eating breakfast lunch and dinner outside under the trees. What a dream! The bedrooms were perfect for travelers with lots of shelving to keep things up off the floor. The bathroom facilities work very well for a large group with both men and women. The owners were exceptional, the dealt with all of our additional needs and make us feel very welcome. Although we did not spend a lot of time indoors except at night, the common area was nicely decorated and quite comfortable.

In addition to the house there is fishing within 50 feet of the house. A great place for family fishing on the Yellowstone without ever getting in the water.

The house is situated within easy driving distance of Yellowstone National Park and Livingston, Montana.

Fly Fishing Addict

  • 5 of 5
I just completed my stay at the River House and I would recommend this vacation rental to any and all avid Fly Fishermen. The house itself was magnificent with fabulous views and very cooperative fish. The largest fish caught in front of the house was a beautiful Brown Trout of 21 inches. We were there for a week for the International Federation of Flyfishers Annual Fly Fishing Fair and Exposition. Ten of us occupied the house and there was room for all. Great Discussions every evening overlooking the river and excellent company. Great insect hatches!!! I can't say enough about the house and the amenities. I will be back again in 2016 if the owner will have me.

Fisherman's DREAM

Fisherman's DREAM
  • 5 of 5
I arrived at the Yellowstone River House and really felt at home. The house was well stocked with all we needed for a week of relaxing and visiting with old friends. The fishing on the Yellowstone was as easy as walking out the door and casting your rod. The hatches of bugs were great (exactly what every fly fisher wants to see). Thanks for a wonderful home away from home. I will be back.

A bit disappointed

  • 3 of 5
I arrived at the "Riverhouse" with high expectations of spending some valuable time with my 2 adult sons and my wife. I guess they were a bit too high. First let me say that the location is very scenic and beautiful. The house was more than adequate for our needs. The problem was the infestation of bugs on the property. Maybe it was the time of year on the Yellowstone when mosquitos and other bugs are hatched but whatever the case, the house does not have air conditioning. The week had a few hot days and the house would get very warm inside. It was impossible to cool the house off by opening the windows because the screens were very old and had holes and tears. The kitchen screen door was badly in need of repair as were the bedroom screens. Needless to say the nights were very warm and uncomfortable in the house. We couldn't stop the bugs from getting in and basically had restless nights. If bugs don't bother you than this might be a good place for you in the summer.

Owner's Response: We at the Riverhouse are very sorry we were unable to meet your expectations.
Riverhouse is an exceptional aqua- Eco system property. The bugs and hatches are not an infestation but are natural and necessary for the health of the river and the environment. And, yes they can be annoying if unexpected. The screens being in disrepair would have had an impact on those unfamiliar with the river environment. The 2 screen doors have since been fixed, we found no problems with the 2 windows in the living room.
I believe in the description page we show that we do not have air conditioning. We have not ever found it necessary to have air conditioning in our Montana home, as the evenings are cool.
The table top book at the Riverhouse explains that by opening the well screened skylights on the second floor the entire unit can be easily and quickly ventilated. There are fans in every bedroom to help draw in the cool air. The moving air from the fans helps to keep the bugs at bay should one find the screens in disrepair.
We at Riverhouse are sorry your stay was a disappointment. We work very hard to keep our property way above average. Sometimes in a rural area, in the summer, on the river, when there have been damages maintenance may take a while and will not be able to take place the same day. We regret that this was your experience. Our apologies.
Thank you for your review.
Best,
Riverhouse
