Damariscotta Cottage Rental Photos and Description

A well maintained cottage at the tip of a secluded tidal cove of the Damariscotta River, home to heron, osprey, terns, horseshoe crabs, and the occasional seal. The cottage is on a private road just one mile from downtown Damariscotta, where you’ll find wonderful restaurants, cafes, shops, bookstore, a farmers’ market, etc. Enjoy beautiful views down the river, including Hog Island, home to two bald eagles. Morning sun, with afternoon shade and a wonderful river breeze keeps the temperature comfortable. Stunning Spot

  • 5 of 5
The cottage is in a stunning position set back a few feet into the trees but overlooking the Damariscotta River. It was clean, comfortable and well equipped, including a number of pieces of antique furniture which contribute to the atmosphere. it as a few minutes drive from Damariscotta, which provides all the facilities likely to be needed by anyone on vacation.

We were visiting from the UK and, therefore, did not have a US bank with which to pay by cheque/check. This caused some complications both for ourselves and the owners but they dealt with them efficiently and helpfully.

Anyone visiting this area should be sure to visit the Wiscasset, Waterville and Farmington Railroad Museum at nearby Alna. It is fascinating.

We hope to return to the cottage within the next year or two and would recommend it to anyone.

Cottage Point Gem

  • 5 of 5
This cottage and locale was everything we imagined and more. The interior was very clean and furnished quite comfortably. The large screened in front porch was pure bliss, where we spent most of our time watching activity on the river, reading, doing puzzles, or napping. We were thrilled to observe egrets and blue heron and even an eagle from our vantage point. We loved the locale for its peaceful seclusion while still being in close proximity to the village and all of its amenities. (esp. Round Top ice cream stand!!!)Exploring the Pemaquid Peninsula ,with all of its delightful villages, harbors and attractions was easily accomplished with short, easy drives from the cottage.
We would definitely recommend this place to family and friends (but not when we're there!!!) We look forward to returning next summer to Cottage Point.

Perfectly appointed

  • 5 of 5
My family rented this cabin last summer for a week. It was perfect! It was tastefully decorated, immaculate and perfectly appointed. The owners have clearly thought of everything and anticipated our every need from children's toys to a lobster pot and wine upon arrival (essential after a long flight and drive up from Boston with two kids)! The lawn provided ample room for the kids to run and the dock provided endless hours of exploration. The use of the kayak was very generous and many trips were taken to investigate Hog Island. My father and son were able to Kayak into town! The quaint road was perfect and safe for strolls with my grandmother and newborn and the neighbors were more than friendly. The out door shower was an unexpected delight. All in all, this cottage is perfect. It is a quick drive to Dam. and to Pemaquid. If they could add an addition so that we could bring more friends and family we would be there this year too.
