Enjoy the natural beauty and serenity of the redwood coast in your own private getaway! Ideal for 2 couples or a family with kids; one large open studio room with wood fire place and king size bed, separate bedroom with double and queen bed.
Not in town, but on the scenic Avenue of the Giants, Pepperwood. An easy hub for visiting the many tourist destinations on the Redwood Coast. Walk out your door and you are in Redwood State Park in a superlative ancient redwood forest! Pick and eat straight from the garden on our organic commercial vegetable and flower garden in season. It is so pretty here you may want to just stay in!
We just stayed here with our two children for about 5 days. Everything about this home/property is perfect. The area is just peaceful. You are able to pick anything that you want from the Organic Garden. We all loved the blackberry Popsicles too! The Avenue of the Giants is just a few steps away and you are into the Redwoods. There are nice short, flat trails and fallen trees for the kids to climb on. The home itself is beautiful and so clean. We felt like we were at home. The hot tub is also such a treat. Mel and Holly were so incredibly hospitable and nice to chat with. They made sure that we were comfortable and that the kids had everything they needed for their daily bad mitten games. I was truly sad to leave. It is a refreshing time experiencing a different way of life. It is a ways from Trees of Mystery and some of the "touristy" things, but anything that we saw up in this area, far surpassed the tourist stop. You can stay here and take in the Redwoods in their natural setting. Also good bird watching. Woodpeckers, Quail, Hummingbirds, etc. Two little bunnies would come and eat each morning and evening at the edge of the property. Thanks so much Mel and Holly for a trip that we will never forget. We will be back!
We just completed our third stay here. It such a great way for entire family to get away from everything for a long weekend. No TV, no internet, no cellular. Just relaxing, hiking in the woods, soaking in the hot tub or doing some shopping up in Eureka, this is a great place. Firewood (fire starter, kindling, and wood is provided, as is a outdoor grill and charcoal)
Tips: There's a full grocery store, Starbucks and great diners just a few minutes north in Fortuna; limited options, especially on Sunday, in Rio Dell and Scotia.
We couldn't finish the puppy and duck puzzle or 7 year old bought. We left it it behind, hopefully you have better luck.
we just had some incredibly nice days in this house. the location is awesome, surrounded by magical woods and the organic veggie fields, the eel river close by. the house is spotless and we had plenty of space. you can laze in the hottub, have a barbeque on one of the many decks surrounding the house, watch the incredible nightsky, go on daytrips or explore the woods right there in pepperwood, its all wonderful. we loved the garden, picking delicious vegtables from the fields and apples from the trees in the garden. my son was so happy with the cat and the dog of the owners, who are very nice and helpful. we all wish we could have stayed longer and hope to come back soon. i can only recommend this place, its magical.
Was better than we expected. Clean, comfortable with lots of windows to let in the great views. We spent most of the time on the patio looking over the very large garden, among the redwoods. It was literally less than two blocks away from a great path through extremely large redwoods, some of the largest we saw on the entire trip. A great benefit of staying there was full access to the garden at no cost. We picked some corn for dinner. It was so sweet and tender, we picked more for desert. Holly was wonderful to deal with. We will absolutely stay there again.
We happened upon this lovely home when our previously selected site turned out to be a disaster. Holly greeted us with the woodstove burning and a smile. The house was light and bright and perfect for a girls' getaway to chat and make jewelry. When we lost electricity due to a storm Holly came to the rescue with candles and oil lamps. Great place. We hiked on a wonderful trail nearby on the Avenue of the Giants.

My husband and I recently stayed at the Vacation House in The Redwoods for three nights. The place is conveniently located directly off Avenue of The Giants. The forest is right there for you to enjoy. There is hiking nearby as well as Redwood groves to explore. The Kreb family has a wonderful bounty of vegetables and flowers, in their garden, for you to enjoy. The hot tub was wonderful to relax in (day or night). The kitchen and home have everything you would have at your own cabin in the woods ( a full bath, board games, books, a television to view movies, and a media player to hook up your i-pod to). You can enjoy with family and friends or alone. The place is quiet and cozy. There is a thermometer that gives you the exterior, interior temperature as well as the relative humidity and time. There are a washer and dryer for you to wash any dirty clothing during your stay so you can pack light if you are staying for an extended period of time. It even has a badmitten net set up in the backyard for your enjoyment.
