A BIG SLICE OF HEAVEN IN "THE WOODS"

A big slice of heaven in "The Woods"
  • 5 of 5
We just stayed in this awesome house/cabin in the woods near Williams, AZ. It had everything we expected - very clean property, comfortable beds, plenty of room, everything we needed in the kitchen, a fire pit, and lots of trees, fresh air, and relaxation. Thank you for sharing your home with my family.

We will be back soon and want to stay longer. What a great get-a-way!

FANTASTIC STAY, EXCEPT FOR..........

  • 4 of 5
This home is beautiful. It's peaceful, secluded, clean, etc. Everything you could possibly want in a vacation rental. The owners called back immediately if I left a message with even a minor question. The only fact never mentioned in the reviews were the trains that passed every 15 - 30 minutes. Since we were near a train crossing that meant three or four train whistle blasts......every 15 - 30 minutes, regardless of the time. The trains ran all night, every night. Still, I gave the house four stars because it is a great space - just bring ear plugs.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. In the past 7 years of renting our property we have had only 3 renters, including yourself, complain about the trains. Please understand that all of our area from Ashfork, Williams, Garland Prairie, Parks, and Flagstaff are all developed in and around the train tracks. It’s how the west was built and certainly how Route 66 became famous. There is one hotel in Flagstaff that advertises on a sign “no train noise” because they claim their building is double insulated. It is something that affects us all. That being said, there are no VRBO rentals in or around our area and the Grand Canyon that disclose on their site the obvious fact that there are trains in our area. We feel we would be giving ourselves an extreme disadvantage, when everybody else has the same issue, but they are not disclosing.

So to all our prospective renters reading this review, it does not matter if you stay at a hotel in Williams or Flagstaff or in a vrbo rental in the surrounding areas, you will hear the trains. Most of the comments in my guest book read "we love the trains". Please do not let this review deter you from enjoying our beautiful residence in the Gateway to the Grand Canyon.

NICE!

  • 4 of 5
We found this house excellent for our Grand Canyon visit. It's a comfortable one hour drive to the south rim and nice to return to a cosy home in the woods. The location is great - enough off the beaten track to be quiet but close enough to pop into town to get what you need.

The kids had fun - DVDs, video games (Xbox, Sega, whatever it is!), a basketball hoop, swings and "just being kids" in the big, open yard. There was ample space for us all to just kick back and relax. Everything felt clean and the beds were comfy.

Note that even though it's a full size house, no clothes washing facilities are provided. This caught us by surprise; take it into consideration. It's the main reason for only 4 stars in this review. (Also there is no internet but we weren't expecting that here.)

A great place to stay! I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a temporary home out that way.

Owner's Response: So glad you enjoyed your stay! Actually, the home does have washer/dryer but its in a separate building on the property. We don't advertise in our listing that washer/dryer is included, however, access to the laundry room can be arranged by request. We keep many personal belongings in the laundry area and keep it locked unless access to laundry amenities are required.

Thank you for your positive comments!

A COZY CABIN IN THE PINES

  • 5 of 5
This cabin is invitingly cozy, nestled in the tall pines. The master bedrom is especially beautiful. Carolyn was gracious and flexible with our arrival date, due to a significant snowstorm. The location is ideal for getting to the Grand Canyon, Sedona, the White Mountains, and other magnificent areas of Arizona. I highly recommend it!

FAMILY VACATION!

  • 5 of 5
Our family had a wonderful time staying at the Pine Cone Ranch. We had 6 adults and were very comfortable. We used the ranch as our base to go on day trips to see Sedona and the Grand Canyon. We LOVED Williams and the hospitality of the townspeople. The house was very clean and well stocked. Loved to feed the horses next door, build a bonfire, go for walks, play cards and basketball, read, and enjoy the deck. We were even able to check in a little early which was great, especially after a late and delayed flight. We would and have recommended this to family and friends!

QUIET REFUGE

  • 5 of 5
We are quite well-traveled, and have stayed at a variety of hotels, condos, and rental homes. We stayed here because it was to be our home base for exploration of the Grand Canyon, Sedona, etc. I have to say, the home was exactly as advertised, and we were very happy.

We went to the nearby Safeway to stock up on food (although there was already a lot of food and other supplies ready for us when we arrived), and that's basically all we needed to do.

After long, fulfilling days of exploration, we returned to the welcoming comfort of this quiet refuge.

Highly recommend.
