The apartment:

Is stylishly furnished with all the comforts of home, it is the perfect place to relax and unwind after a busy day; watch a movie, enjoy a glass of wine or entertain family or friends in the 950sq ft space inside or the private outdoor BBQ area, It is the perfect inner city retreat.

The building:

The Harrison Modern has 4 wonderful apartments to offer in a, well designed, refurbished, Mid-Century building. For your privacy each unit has a separate entrance; 1111 – 1117 E. Harrison Street. I have lived in the building for 15 years and the neighborhood for 17, I would be happy to give you a local perspective on sightseeing or dining in the neighborhood during your stay.

The location:

Capitol Hill is one of Seattle's most vibrant neighborhoods, with wonderful stately homes, parks, museums, shopping, restaurants, theaters and other attractions all within a short walk from the property.

We have a fantastic location in the heart of this historic neighborhood, within 3 minutes walk you will find a variety of shopping, restaurants, cafes, and 3 supermarkets

We are on the same street as Seattle University and a 5 minute walk from the Pike/Pine Corridor bars, cafes & nightlife. Downtown Seattle is 1 mile from the building as is the Washington State Trade & Convention Center, and the Hospitals on First Hill. The Pike Place Market and the Seattle Space Needle are also easily accessed either on foot or by the extensive bus network that passes 2 blocks from the building on the eclectic Broadway Shopping street. You will LOVE the location!!

I have owned and lived in the Harrison Modern since 1997. I have a passion for architecture and interior design, you will see this in every aspect of the building. Originally born in New Zealand, I have traveled the world and the US extensively, I believe that Seattle is one of the most beautiful cities on the planet. My back ground is in Tourism Marketing, I worked for the New Zealand Tourism Board in Los Angles for 8 years before moving to Seattle in 1994. I have a love of travel and new experiences - Whenever I away I always stay at vacation apartments, as you get a real feel for the destination you are visiting.

Seattle is a vibrant city full of amazing sights from world class architecture, vibrant arts scene, to spectacular outdoor activities. Capitol Hill, is the perfect location to explore all Seattle and everything the region has to offer. If you are not traveling outside the city you won't need a car, everything is within an easy walk or a short bus ride. Within 3 short blocks of the building are a a number of great restaurants, shops and cafes, 2 supermarkets and 3 wonderful city parks. Capitol Hill is a rich, diverse, neighborhood with multi million mansions and a wonderful farmers market within blocks of each other. One thing I am sure about... You will love the location. I have done a lot of traveling and believe that Seattle and the Pacific North West is one of the most beautiful, livable, areas in the North America.

Location, Location, Location... Capitol Hill is the most convenient neighborhood to downtown Seattle. from our building it is a lovely 15-20 minute walk to downtown. The building is super stylish, all the apartments are large and individually furnished in keeping with the mid-century contemporary theme. Comfort, convenience, and style are what you will find when you stay at the Harrison Modern.

GREAT PLACE TO STAY!!!

We loved our stay at Harrison Modern. The location was perfect, we actually didn't even need the car we rented. It was perfect to relax, and had everything possible a traveler would need. The attention the detail was amazing from maps, to books, music, recommendations on what to see in town, and even some board games for the kids. We enjoyed the private garden and lit some candles and enjoyed some wine and cheese. Would definitely stay here again in a heart beat! Highly recommended!!!!!! Outstanding location!

BEST PLACE TO STAY IN SEATTLE!

My family of four rented this based on great reviews and easy communication with Ian. As first-time visitors to Seattle, we had no idea what type of neighborhood, neighbors, environment, etc. we were getting into and just hoped for the best. This is it! I can't say enough about the cleanliness of the Harrison Modern. Whoever does their cleaning deserves a medal.

The neighborhood is vibrant and diverse, yet quiet. The nearby shops are fun to explore. The park was awesome for after-dinner soccer and walking in the fountain. The proximity to the city was ideal, not too close, not too far. The back porch area was private and relaxing with a secret, perfect view of the Space Needle (framed by a gorgeous shade tree) to the west.

The Modern itself was perfect for the four of us. We left the doors to the porch open each night for a lovely breeze as we slept and, if you can believe it, not a single sound outdoors woke us up over four nights. (I said it was quiet!) The kitchen, laundry, living room, and bathroom are comfortable, modern, and tasteful. Used the grill and it worked fine.

Funny aside: While we were visiting, Seattle was experiencing a "heat wave" of 84 degrees. While the Modern isn't air conditioned, it was perfectly comfortable with the windows open. However, after a long day of sight seeing, we were 15 minutes from the Modern when I mentioned how nice a fan would be for that final hour or so before the sun set. When we returned home, we found that Ian had dropped off a brand-new fan, as if he'd heard me! Thanks, Ian. It was nice.

If we go back to Seattle, this is where we'll stay. Highly recommended.

This apartment is in a great location, within walking distance to parks, cafés, restaurants, supermarket. We enjoyed exploring the Capitol Hill area. It's a short walk to downtown. The apartment was clean and well equipped. Would recommend this apartment to others and would definitely stay again.

VERY GOOD RENTAL EXPERIENCE

This property gets excellent reviews with good reason, it is a very good rental.
Pros:
- Location
- Cleanliness
- Parking (for additional fee, but still it is available)
- Affordability
- Excellent communication by owner
- Onsite free laundry (included in rental fee)

Cons:
- Shades in Living area are for privacy, not light blocking (only a concern when sleeping 6
- Best suited for 4, not 6 occupants (but we got by, just would be great for 4, adequate for 6)
- Cable offering is very strange

So as you can see the pros out weigh the cons. I would highly recommend for four guests, and caution a group of 6 to consider if the price savings warrant the sofa sleeping in what is bound to be a very bright living space as the sun comes up.

Thanks to Ian for such great communication before arriving, and for all the helpful literature inside the rental.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your very honest and frank review. We prefer to only have 4 people stay in this unit, however, we can accommodate 6 at a pinch generally families where the children are accommodated on the 2 twin sofas in the living room as you described.

FIVE STAR SERVICE AND LOCATION

If it's location that you are looking for then Harrison Modern is a must. It all starts with the best coffee in Seattle located at the end of the street TNT Express coffee hut where coffee is made with love. The food and the bars in the area are fantastic, it's also a short stroll to downtown and all the visitor attractions. The accommodation is comfortable and Ian is a great, and responsive, host. Much better than dealing with an uptight hotel. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

TERRIFIC PLACE!

Absolutely terrific apartment! Well appointed (even down to the grocery store tags, transit maps, tour/city information), great location/neighborhood, and the option for parking is an asset .. one less thing to worry about as much of the street parking around is 2 hr parking. We were there with our 2 sons, 18 and 13, and all 4 of us liked it equally (a tough battle with teenagers). Modern, pleasing décor with attention to detail. Back patio with view of Space Needle another bonus. Grocery store (a great one), restaurants, etc. all within walking distance .. and location very accessible to other parts of the city. Can't go wrong with Harrison Modern! We would definitely stay there again and/or recommend.
