The apartment:

Is stylishly furnished with all the comforts of home, it is the perfect place to relax and unwind after a busy day; watch a movie, enjoy a glass of wine or entertain family or friends in the 950sq ft space inside or the private outdoor BBQ area, It is the perfect inner city retreat.

The building:

The Harrison Modern has 4 wonderful apartments to offer in a, well designed, refurbished, Mid-Century building. For your privacy each unit has a separate entrance; 1111 – 1117 E. Harrison Street. I have lived in the building for 15 years and the neighborhood for 17, I would be happy to give you a local perspective on sightseeing or dining in the neighborhood during your stay.

The location:

Capitol Hill is one of Seattle's most vibrant neighborhoods, with wonderful stately homes, parks, museums, shopping, restaurants, theaters and other attractions all within a short walk from the property.

We have a fantastic location in the heart of this historic neighborhood, within 3 minutes walk you will find a variety of shopping, restaurants, cafes, and 3 supermarkets

We are on the same street as Seattle University and a 5 minute walk from the Pike/Pine Corridor bars, cafes & nightlife. Downtown Seattle is 1 mile from the building as is the Washington State Trade & Convention Center, and the Hospitals on First Hill. The Pike Place Market and the Seattle Space Needle are also easily accessed either on foot or by the extensive bus network that passes 2 blocks from the building on the eclectic Broadway Shopping street. You will LOVE the location!!

About Ian Petry

I have owned and lived in the Harrison Modern since 1997. I have a passion for architecture and interior design, you will see this in every aspect of the building. Originally born in New Zealand, I have traveled the world and the US extensively, I believe that Seattle is one of the most beautiful cities on the planet. My back ground is in Tourism Marketing, I worked for the New Zealand Tourism Board in Los Angles for 8 years before moving to Seattle in 1994. I have a love of travel and new experiences - Whenever I away I always stay at vacation apartments, as you get a real feel for the destination you are visiting.

Seattle is a vibrant city full of amazing sights from world class architecture, vibrant arts scene, to spectacular outdoor activities. Capitol Hill, is the perfect location to explore all Seattle and everything the region has to offer. If you are not traveling outside the city you won't need a car, everything is within an easy walk or a short bus ride. Within 3 short blocks of the building are a a number of great restaurants, shops and cafes, 2 supermarkets and 3 wonderful city parks. Capitol Hill is a rich, diverse, neighborhood with multi million mansions and a wonderful farmers market within blocks of each other. One thing I am sure about... You will love the location. I have done a lot of traveling and believe that Seattle and the Pacific North West is one of the most beautiful, livable, areas in the North America.

Location, Location, Location... Capitol Hill is the most convenient neighborhood to downtown Seattle. from our building it is a lovely 15-20 minute walk to downtown. The building is super stylish, all the apartments are large and individually furnished in keeping with the mid-century contemporary theme. Comfort, convenience, and style are what you will find when you stay at the Harrison Modern.

Quiet location but close to action with a great outdoor space

My 2 friends and I had a great time staying here. An very short walk to a popular street filled with restaurants and groceries or whatever you'd need as well as a convenient place to catch the bus downtown. The outdoor space in the back was better than expected. We would enjoy the patio for our morning coffee and after a long day of walking around and sight seeing, return to the patio for some drinks in the evening. Free wi-fi was also nice. Would absolutely stay here again.

So glad we stayed here!

We were glad that we made right decision to stay at Harrison Modern apartment. The apartment had everything we need. The location is great with short walk to bus stations. We went all the places by taking the bus. There many good restaurants near by. We loved this area. We would love to go back here again and definitely recommend this apartment to our friends.

Just what we were looking for!

When we travel we always look to stay in a place with character in a community rather than a hotel. This place was fantastic for us 3 adults. The neighbourhood was great and the amenities couldn't get any better. The apartment had everything we needed and was a pleasure to stay in. We didn't have a car and nor do you need one - and we went everywhere! I can't wait to return.

Lovely stay in Capitol Hill

Stayed 4 nights at this lovely apartment in Capitol Hill. Great place, great location. Everything we needed (supermarkets, restaurants etc) close by. Also very quiet.

Only gripes are minor - there was no Gas for the Barbeque and could not get the TV to work. Minor comments as we had no time to watch TV anyway! Would highly recommend this accomodation if you are in the area.

Great Place to Stay!!!

We loved our stay at Harrison Modern. The location was perfect, we actually didn't even need the car we rented. It was perfect to relax, and had everything possible a traveler would need. The attention the detail was amazing from maps, to books, music, recommendations on what to see in town, and even some board games for the kids. We enjoyed the private garden and lit some candles and enjoyed some wine and cheese. Would definitely stay here again in a heart beat! Highly recommended!!!!!! Outstanding location!

Best place to stay in Seattle!

My family of four rented this based on great reviews and easy communication with Ian. As first-time visitors to Seattle, we had no idea what type of neighborhood, neighbors, environment, etc. we were getting into and just hoped for the best. This is it! I can't say enough about the cleanliness of the Harrison Modern. Whoever does their cleaning deserves a medal.

The neighborhood is vibrant and diverse, yet quiet. The nearby shops are fun to explore. The park was awesome for after-dinner soccer and walking in the fountain. The proximity to the city was ideal, not too close, not too far. The back porch area was private and relaxing with a secret, perfect view of the Space Needle (framed by a gorgeous shade tree) to the west.

The Modern itself was perfect for the four of us. We left the doors to the porch open each night for a lovely breeze as we slept and, if you can believe it, not a single sound outdoors woke us up over four nights. (I said it was quiet!) The kitchen, laundry, living room, and bathroom are comfortable, modern, and tasteful. Used the grill and it worked fine.

Funny aside: While we were visiting, Seattle was experiencing a "heat wave" of 84 degrees. While the Modern isn't air conditioned, it was perfectly comfortable with the windows open. However, after a long day of sight seeing, we were 15 minutes from the Modern when I mentioned how nice a fan would be for that final hour or so before the sun set. When we returned home, we found that Ian had dropped off a brand-new fan, as if he'd heard me! Thanks, Ian. It was nice.

If we go back to Seattle, this is where we'll stay. Highly recommended.
