'Creekside' is a real and authentic log cabin that is located just fifteen minutes outside of Boone, just minutes from the Blue Ridge Pkwy, and is situated in a postcard like setting with nearly 1/2 mile of stocked trout stream that runs directly behind the cabin. If you are looking for a streamside cabin you will not find a better location anywhere. The relaxing sound of the rushing stream and waterfalls (there is a 60 ft waterfall a short hike away) can be heard throughout the property, and there is abundant wildlife including trout, deer, turkey, fox, beavers and birds. 'Creekside' has a private hot tub on deck overlooking the stream, gas fireplace, gas grill, sat TV/DVD, queen bed, full kitchen, full bath, futon and sleeps 2-4. There is also another cabin on the property which can be rented either together or individually which makes this property ideal for anything from a romantic weekend or honeymoon to a large family or multi family vacation.

quaint location but dirty!!!!

We visited this cabin for our one year anniversary. We were excited to be able to bring our dogs.

However, the cabin was dirty, the jacuzzi was filthy.

A review was written for the owner expressing my concerns, however, there was nothing written in response.

We ended up leaving early. Very expensive for a an unpleasant trip.

Excellent Stay for the Money.

Review Submitted: July 13, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
My wife and I stayed for 4 nights. We booked this cabin for about the price we would have paid to spend 4-5 days in a 4/5 star hotel and the cabin is MUCH better than staying in a hotel. The stream and waterfall are amazing. We used the propane grill almost everynight and the hot tub was great we also built a fire in the firepit. There's a bunch of wildlife to see and the drive down is breathtaking. There is a TV and DVD player, but we didn't have a chance to watch any TV. This trip was definately worth it. Plus the owner/manager was very nice and helpful. There was plenty of space for the two of us in the cabin. There is a larger cabin about 25 - 50 yards from this one, but the landscaping ensures that there's plenty of privacy. We would recommend it to anyone.

Wonderful Stream but there are some issues

Review Submitted: June 30, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
My wife and I stayed for 2 nights and really enjoyed our weekend. When we went on the back deck, we were amazed at the view. The pictures of the stream out back do not do it justice. It is beautiful! You can also see a small waterfall from the deck and there is a beautiful waterfall only a short hike away. I would suggest wearing long pants/shirt if you hike. We did come across a copperhead snake and poison ivy, but we also did see a sleeping baby fawn. We were able to get within a couple of feet of the deer.

I think the view off the deck is worth the stay alone. We did have some issues though. First, we would have loved to sit in the hot tub at night and listen to the stream, but it was disgusting (slimy film on top with bugs floating). I did inform the owner and he said if we would have called someone would have fixed it. The other major problem was that we didn't have any water on our last day. The water just dripped out of the shower, so there was no way of taking a shower.

A couple of things that didn't bother us, but you will want to know before you go. The fridge is very small. If you plan to stay for a week, you may want to bring a cooler to put extra stuff in. You need to dump your garbage. If you are checking out on a Sunday, the dump is closed so you will need to find somewhere else to dump it or pay $5/bag or $25 for 3 or more bags. Also, you need to wash your towels and dishes before you leave. There is no dishwasher.

The cabin is about 50-100 feet from a larger cabin and you can hear them if they are on their deck. The group that stayed while we were there had a dog, so we could hear it barking and we could hear them talking. We turned on the a/c (not all cabins have a/c, so this was great), when we went to sleep, so it wasn't a big deal.

They do have games to play and about 5 movies that you can watch. They also have satellite tv. There are quite a few channels (ESPN and local channels), but you won't get Comedy Central, AMC, or anything that is not on the basic package. But who goes to a cabin to watch TV?

I don't fish, but the comment book said they had caught some nice trout in the stream. There is even an area that is deep enough if you want to have a swim.

Overall, I would say it was a good stay, but it would have been nice to have a shower and hot tub. One last thing, the drive in is beautiful, but very curvy. Take it slow.
Owner's Response: Being in the vacation rental business (I have multiple properties) it is my goal to provide an exceptional property for guests to come and have an enjoyable vacation. If you choose this property you will see that we pay attention to detail to provide guests with all the comforts, and more, that you would expect. Our guest books at the cabin are filled with extremely positive comments and repeat guests. The issue with the hot tub was an isolated problem that was not brought to my attention until after the guest checked out. Had I been aware of this I would have had it taken care of immediately. The hot tub is clean and in good working order. All my properties are very well maintained, but if there ever is a problem I will do whatever it takes to solve the problem promptly.
