Enjoy your own private house near the friendly neighborhood of Chemuyil. This comfy casa is nestled between Playa Del Carmen and Tulum Mexico. Less than a 10 minute walk or a 3 minute bike ride to a beautiful, quite beach, with turquoise water and soft white sand. The beach has a reef that is great for snorkeling, diving or just relaxing. The quaint village of Chemuyil is within a 5 minute walk with restaurants, shopping, internet cafe, grocery and laundry. Everything is furnished and brand new in the house, featuring a plush king bed in the master bedroom and two twins in the 2nd bedroom. Both feature pillow top mattresses and 400 thread count sheets. The fully stocked kitchen would make any chef at home, with stainless appliances and a professional gas stove and oven. For you comfort, we offer ceiling fans and cool A/C in each room.

Chemuyil House Description: Welcome! We have spent many years traveling and appreciating the Yucatan and we welcome you to do the same. If your looking for a resort type experience, this is not for you. We offer a modest home in the real Yucatan where you can save a bundle and have a great time. We are happy to assist you in planning your trip, not only your stay at our casa, but even travel and activities. We are a non-profit property. Life is short, have fun and make memories! House Location:: Our house; Casa de Margarita is in the Yucatan Peninsula, located just off the main highway (307) between Akumal and Tulum. We are 25 minutes South of Play del Carmen, 3 minutes south of Akumal and 10 minutes north of Tulum. Casa de Margarita is in a private, gated neighborhood within walking distance of the Chemuyil beach (which was voted the fourth most beautiful beach in the world) and the village of Chemuyil. You can fly to Cancun, rent a car and drive to the casa in about one and a half hours. If you prefer, you can easily get around on public transport. The Yucatan has a very clean, safe and inexpensive bus system as well as many local cabs and colectivos to get you around.

House Description: House Description: Casa Margarita is a spacious 2 bedroom casa with a king bed in one bedroom and two twin beds in the second. All beds are brand-new; quality pillow top mattresses with 400 thread count sheets and pillowcases. This vacation house is complete with clean ceramic tiles, a hot shower, ceiling fans and air conditioning in each room. There is a small kitchen that is fully furnished with a full size five burner gas stove, new full size refrigerator, coffee maker, toaster, microwave, blender, George Foreman grill, water dispenser with plenty of fresh bottled water, pots, pans, all cups, glasses, cooking utensils and eating ware. All furniture in the casa is brand new. We also include beach chairs and a cooler. There is a small private,patio area in the back.

Golf: About the area: I'm not a big golfer, but I know many people come to the area and rave about the courses in the area. I will get more info for you guys on this.

Great house, good deal!

We (a family of four with kids aged 13 and 11) have just come back from our four weeks' vacation for which we had rented Casa Margarita. Summarized: WHAT A GREAT HOLIDAY!
The house is wonderful, located between Akumal and Tulum (with various beautiful and not at all crowded - sometimes even rather lonely - beaches close by; our favourites were the turtle beach just a couple of minutes' walk from the house and north Akumal's "Half Moon Bay") in a quiet neighbourhood (a new estate), and the people in the village of Chemuyil (where there are shops, restaurants, internet cafes and even a cleaner's) are all extremely friendly. We felt safe and welcome.
We spent the first week of our holiday relaxing at the beaches and cenotes close by, in the second week we started making some trips to the "usual" places like Tulum, Coba, Chichen Itza, Ek-Balam plus spent two days on Isla Holbox where we snokeled with whale sharks. Then we went off to Belize (Caye Caulker, San Ignacio etc.) and Guatemala (Tikal and Flores) to come back to the Casa Margarita again for the last days of our holidays. So due to the relatively low rental price (in particular for a full month) the casa is great as a sort of "base camp" (especially if you have a rental car, which we had; my recommendation: "Caribbean Rent a Car" - cancunrentacar.com - as they are the cheapest ones including insurance with zero reduction in case of an accident or a theft). But if you want to stay at the same spot for your whole holiday, Casa Margarita is equally ideal!
The beds (a double in one bedroom, two singles in the other) are very comfortable (which I find extremely important as I get backaches otherwise), the kitchen is equipped with everything you might need incl. a wide stove with oven, a microwave, fruitpress etc.. Furthermore, there are two good bicycles, beach chairs, a boogie board etc..
The only thing the house hasn't got (yet?) is a TV, but I must say that we were happy there wasn't one, as that left us more family time for board and card games. (Instead there is a handy iPod station!)
Ron, the landlord, is very nice and very helpful (he made a wonderful booklet for the renters of his house with lots of helpful information, e.g. regarding beaches and restaurants around, rental of boats etc.), likewise is Shelly, the housekeeper, who lives just down the road.
All in all, I can truely recommend Casa Margarita! Book it, you won't regret it!

What fun - Can't wait to go back

We just got back to "reality" from Ron and Maggie's home in the Yucatan. What a treat. The house is sweet, has everything you'd want/need and is so centrally located - close to Akumal, Tankah,Tulum, and several great Cenotes (which we didn't even get to see.) We snorkeled to our heart's delight. It was so nice to have the privacy of coming back to the Casita and hanging out, reading, and enjoying the evening. We were able to plug our I-Pod into the player so we had music. I loved no phone, no TV, no newspaper - it was just what the doctor ordered. I can't wait to go back and have some more of that sun, the unbelievable magic of the underwater sights and the great food.

Walking to the local beach through a bit of "jungle" was a kick too. Neighbors were friendly. The local beach could use some shade but you can go and sample other beaches that have Palapas. Ron said he'd be getting an umbrella for future visitors that burn easliy.

My husband and I both thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We'll be going back..

Nice change to the all inclusive.

My wife and I just got back from staying at the Casa Margarita and we had our best trip ever.
We have been to Cancun and Playa del Carmen in the past as well as stayed at a all inclusive property.
With the economy, we thought we were going to have to cancel our trip. Then after serching on the net we found this place. I must say we were very surprised. We feel like we finally got out of the tourist traps and got to enjoy true Yucatan culture. The beach is a short walk and I must say the most beautiful I have ever seen. We swam with the sea turtles. The snorkeling is great right there!. We used to be herded on a bus and pay 45.00 for a so-so snorkle experience. No more! Plus we saved a bundel buying groceries and cooking there for one or two meals a day. The kitchen is small but awesome. We found the little village of Chemuwill (SP?) had all we needed including a lot of smiling locals and very afordable restaurants. One place has breakfast for 60 pesos! (50 cents) We found the house to be very centerally located. Tulum ruins were 15 minutes away and Akumal only five.There is sooo much to do in the area. What a great village that is too! One night we went to {Paya to celebrate a special evening to party. We rode the local transportation for cheap and it only took half an hour to get there.
We found the neighborhood to be very safe and friendly.
Everything in the house is brand new with great beds that have that fancy hotel feeling.
If I could change anything, I wish that there was a grill in the back to cook some local fish available just in Tulum. I am told that the grill will be there anytime.
When we were there, there was no tv although its supposed to be there soon too. I gotta say, we never missed it and am actually gonna suggest they leave it as it is. We read more and had more time for each other.
GREAT, GREAT FIND AND CHEAP! Including our rental, food and entertainment, we only spent 1200.00 for 7 days.
Ron and Margie are passionate about the area and really went out of thier way to help us have a great trip.
We will be back!
