Great Fun - Great Value: We hope you enjoy our new home as much as we do. A great family friendly home, as well as a great place for friends to get together. There's something for everyone.
We enjoyed our lovely house in the woods. When we entered, the house was clean and well maintained. We loved the town of Fryeburg as it was centrally located to many attractions such as the Cog Railway and the Flume Gorge in New Hampshire. We were also only an hour and a half away from Portland. I loved the serenity of the location of this house. I do have to say something that was missing in the house was air conditioning. I know Maine doesn't call for air conditioning most of the year, but the house becomes very hot when the temps go up. It was for me a little uncomfortable to sleep in the heat. I also know the owners spray the property for insects. Thank goodness for that because the insect situation was crazy. I guess you can't expect any less being in the woods but it was bothersome. All in all we had a great time in Maine and did enjoy many aspects of the house especially the comfortable tubes provided by the owners. We used them on the river numerous times and had wonderful relaxing days. I would rent this house again only this time I would aim for cooler weather.
Head a great time..the house was spotless..right on the river..great location close to shopping and the White Mountains but private...owners provide plenty of rafts...kayaks etc . Had a great time
We spent a weekend and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!! Cozy and clean home with many amenities. Loved the quiet neighborhood. Fire pit is perfect for cool nights. Great for shopping, skiing, leaf-peeping, or just getting away!
We were very impressed with how clean the house was.
Can't wait to head back up for ski season.
My wife and I enjoyed the house and how clean and well equipped it was. Six adults and 3 Grandchildren were comfortable in the layout.
Saco was very refreshing and the little ones could play on the beach or in the shallows. Plenty of games to play in house or just read and relax. Plenty of local farmers markets for fresh veggies and home made baked goods if desired. No. Conway very close if one wanted to shop the outlets, play miniature or regular golf, Storyland for the little ones, fun restaurants and a tour of the Tuckerman Brewery on Saturday afternoon was excellent with unlimited samples of their fine brews. Basement was large and was excellent for coming in after being on the river. Will be good in the winter with ski's and other cold weather gear as well.
My family of 4 loved our 5 night stay at this lovely secluded home. The boys loved the private dock and playing on the river. This is a great place to plan all your day trips from or just hang out at the river all day and watch the Red Sox on the T.V. at night. We were provided lots of information about the area from the owners. If I had to pic a negative, it would be the sound of the traffic on the nearby road....though I didn't mind....and no phone for local/emergency calls(Canadian cell phone rates/roaming rates were bad). We would love to make this place our yearly vacation spot!! The house is well equipped and decorated nicely....like I said, who needs camping when you can stay here!
We rented this place over the July 4th weekend for 3 nights. The rental process was very simple, and John was very responsive. The house is great. It was very nicely furnished and more than comfortable for 6 adults. It was clean, with lots of closet space, well equipped with all kitchen essentials. Plenty of games and books - there was really no reason to leave the house and seek entertainment elsewhere.
The dock behind the house was awesome. We were able to jump off and play in the river. The river was shallow enough for us to be able to walk to the beach on the other side.
Cons: 1) no internet connection, but this really forced us to relax. 2) no air conditioner - it became a bit stuffy when the temps hit 90+
I would definitely stay here again and without hesitation recommend it to family and friends.
