Terrible experience!

I rented this house, that has a very dirty carpet and linens, I paid for heated pool, and I had to wait 2 days to get it heated after I arrived, and I follow the owners directions and left the keys in a box and leave, instead of waiting for someone to walk thru with me to check the house. Turns out they decided after a very aggressive email, to keep more than half of my deposit, since I could not prove anything, I didn't argue their decision and wait it for the rest of my deposit, that they claim they sent, and I never received, I ask them nicely to please check and confirm that I never cash that check, and I'm still after 2 month waiting for my money back, so my advise is to be careful.
Owner's Response: These renters were a nightmare! They contacted me via e-mail the day before their departure telling us how great the house was and asking if they could extend their stay, why would they do that if the house was so bad? We arrived 3 days after they left so we saw for ourselves the damage that was done. There was a hole in one of the doors and marker all over a queen comforter. The entire bedding had to be replaced as a result including matching window treatments because I couldn’t get the same comforter. I was informed by the management company that the home was a disaster when the cleaning people arrived. There was lotion of some sort all over the tables and big screen TV, they were afraid it wouldn’t work, luckily for us it did. We decided to keep half of their deposit to cover some of the damage in an attempt to be reasonable. After receiving a threatening phone call from some man, we contacted our attorney and then decided not to refund any of the deposit. This would explain why a bad review was written months after their stay.
