This well-maintained, family-friendly home is located on a one acre lot and was built around 12 years ago. It sits at the bottom of Mount Bross backed by National Forest and bordered by many other splendid mountain peaks. Want to bag a fourteener? The trail head for Mt. Quandry is just over the pass. Mt. Democrat, Lincoln and Bross trailheads are a 6 mile drive. A grocery store, several coffee shops and the South Park rec center are within a 10 minute drive. In addition to the restaurants and shops, for a small fee you can enjoy pools, hot tubs and workout facilities at the Breckenridge and/or South Park rec center (also has free wireless access).

On the deck there's a gas grill, patio furniture (including a hammock), a chiminea to toast marshmallows among tons of stars to gaze at night.
Two bedrooms (both with queen beds) plus an upstairs loft (with full size futon and twin bunks) can sleep up to eight people (6 adults comfortably) and there's plenty of floor space so 2 more can sleep on an aero bed if needed. There are three baths and plenty of closet storage for ski/hiking stuff. Linens, towels and starter toiletries are provided.
Rafting, Hiking or Biking? In the summer its a quick 30 minute drive south down US285 to Buena Vista and some of the best rafting in Colorado on the Arkansas River. You will find bike and hiking trails all over the area. A National Forest Service office is conveniently located in Fairplay.
Keep us in mind for skiing in winter too: No need to sit in traffic on I-70. This house is 20 minutes to Breckenridge at the bottom of Peak 9; an additional 25 minutes will put you in Keystone; Beaver Creek is an hour's drive from Alma. Note: You will need a 4-wheel drive in the winter.
You will be staying in a wonderfully, warm, cozy and secluded private home with every convenience at a fraction of the condominium and hotel prices of resort towns. There is no internet access or a land line at the house - but who needs it when you want to get away from it all.

About Teresa Lawlor
I am the second owner of this beautiful mountain home and have had it now for eight 10 years. I love living in metro Denver but also appreciate having a place in the mountains to getaway with the kids. We have had wonderful times here with friends and have started renting it out recently. We have had many return guests.
Teresa Lawlor purchased this house in 2005
Why Teresa Lawlor chose Alma
I lived in the foothills of Denver for 8 years before buying this property. After I had kids I wanted to be close to everything in Denver, but also wanted to enjoy the mountains. Alma is a cute little town and the locals are wonderfully friendly. We love being so close to Breckenridge and the magnificent 14,000 foot mountains. There's skiing, sledding, snowshoeing as well as lots of summer activities like hiking, biking, fishing, boating (on Lake Dillon) and canoeing. Its also a convenient distance from Denver - about a 2 hour drive so it appeals to local and out of town visitors alike - and you can avoid the I-70 traffic by taking US285.
What makes this house unique
The ride to the house is glorious - what a treat to drive over Kenosha pass to the house on US285 and hit South Park. The views are to die for. Once you arrive at the house its like getting away from it all but with all the conveniences of home. Its great to hang out on the deck and read, make s'mores with the kids at night and watch the stars. The South Platte river and reservoir make it fun to fish with the kids. Alma is a groovy little town with some good coffee shops and restaurants and there's a few great parks for the kids (including 2 skateboard parks). Breckenridge always has something going on during the weekends all year long.
